HUD may relocate displaced Puerto Ricans to mainland US: report

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has begun considering a plan to provide housing on the U.S. mainland to Puerto Ricans who were displaced by Hurricane Maria, according to Bloomberg.

The plan was reportedly discussed during a recent meeting between HUD, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and White House officials.

Just t this country needs:   More alleged "refugees" to sponge off the taxpayers.   

Is this Trump's idea?  What does he have to say about this?

It's gonna happen, whether subsidized or no.  The island had lost 12% of its population before the hurricane.  I bet a million people will leave for the mainland.

I get that.  But if Puerto Rico wants to be a state, it should act like one.  Its people should stay home and rebuild.  No infrastructure?  No social services?  Then put them in place.  Stop coming here and mooching off the rest of us.   In PA, for example, we have state taxes.  Doesn't PR have its own taxes?  If not, why not?  Why should the states have to take care of these people in addition to those already living in those states?   We've already sent our federal  tax dollars to PR.  Where did the money go?  Why is there no investigation into why PR is such a hellhole?
