One could say the same thing about Mormonism. For many decades, they said the same thing about Roman Catholicism.

EXCEPT, that the evils perpetrated in the name of Catholicism were near uniformly perped by the Church Bureaucracy, (in its day, the biggest of all big Governments) not the day to day Catholic.

The Vatican viewed itself as the Overlord of all other Lords and such as well as the commoners.

I really wish ace conservative Mo Brooks would have won. One can look him up and he's pretty solid, I think and that is whom I would have vote in that first election.

@TomSea

I somewhat agree.... but Roy was rock solid on gun rights... Mo wobbled a few times (example: wanting to give Senators rights the average citizen would not have)... Luther was just a snake in the grass.

Actually Luther Strange also had a pretty solid scorecard rating for what little time he spent in Washington (I think higher than Mo Brooks)... But being from Alabama, that was not the whole of the story. Strange got his promotion on the back of a crooked governor (Bentley), that basically got a handshake with Big Luther to try and let him off the hook for what he did. Luther even tried to delay the investigation into Bentley.  Luther also got the crooked NRA backing, but the state grassroots gun folks didn't like Luther one bit. Strange was bad to try to screw over gun rights by his working with the Alabama sheriffs (who got money via conceal carry permits) to provide gun free zones that were ruled unconstitutional. The biggest gun rights group in the state (BamaCarry) did a poll and it was 4 to 1 against all the others. Roy Moore made sure to affirm his belief in constitutional carry directly to the state gun groups, Luther proved with his actions as AG that he was not a friend of gun rights.

I may of saved the poll.. let me see if I can find it.

What I am saying is a liberty vote card for a few months does not tell the whole story. You had to live in state to know exactly why Mo and Luther was not liked.

I could live for Mo (glad to still have him in office), Luther was an absolute no go. Love me some Roy Moore.

Quote from: article
in which Moore wrote that Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) should not be allowed to serve in Congress because he is a Muslim — should disqualify him from running for the Senate.

Quote from: article
“The Constitution is pretty dang clear about not having a religious litmus test.”

So basically Sasse talks about a religious litmus test for Moore taking office because of Moore's beliefs. Where exactly is that in the constitution? Am I the only one that sees the complete irony of this.

Yay !!!  Well, if he did nothing else (and he did nothing else) that would be a good thing, it would be for your to re-evaluate.

What I'm wondering if why a couple of supposedly intelligent members have wasted two pages arguing with the dude.

Unless, maybe, arguing is their thing, even if it's with a rock.

Reading the above statement from you I think the response was appropriate.  You don't see it?  I see it all the time.  You say members or make blanket statements that could apply to anybody.  I think you do it on purpose.

It happened to me in the other thread when you implied people were being hateful Christians.  Its like you are trying to get a reaction so that you can start something up.

Dear Chosen Daughter,

I am sorry that you choose to take my general remarks personally.  Why do you do that?  I probably wasn't thinking of you at all.

In my post about the futility of arguing with Tom Sea, I was actually complimenting @CatherineofAragon because, whatever else I may think of her, I always considered her intelligent.

She was right in thinking I was talking about her in that particular instance but usually when I make a general remark, it's just a general remark.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

So, with that thought in mind, I'm gonna say farewell to this discussion and hope it can end here.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.

What it makes you is a pragmatic realist.

The more Muslims we have in the country, the more pandering to their issues politicians will be doing.

At the moment, Sharia is off the table in America.

Import enough new voters who want it, and that can change.

It won't be either legal or right, but when has that ever stopped a politician?

Yes a cigar is a cigar.  Stinky cheap one.   I don't always think its about me.  But it is about "members" general so it could be anyone.  Sometimes maybe someone knows.  They are the below the belt hits against people.  Usually without substance.  You talking to hear yourself.

Okay, @CatherineofAragon I was trying to be nice.

You were a total idiot to keep up that dialogue with @TomSea.  And you're also a hateful beeotch.

Oh, bull crap, the forum sees your passive-aggressive crap for what it is.  You're right, I am a bitch.  Remember it.  When you pull your act with me, you'll get it back twice as hard.  I love to hear you whine.

Well, I feel the same way you do about that, but not being a leftist, my feelings are not the be-all and end-all of it.  The Constitution is the law, and we better amend it if we don't like what it says.

I don't like it either.  But I would never want to see it amended to remove any religious freedom.  If you exclude one then comes another.  This is exactly what the liberals want.  An end to religion period.  What needs to be done is a strengthening of the Constitution spelling out that our Constitution and Federal, State and Local laws are the only laws of the land.

Before I oppose what you are saying how would you amend the Constitution without compromising religious freedom?  I agree with anyone that calls Islam a cult or that it isn't a religion because of the governing.  Sharia Law....etc.  But Islam has always been accepted as one of the 3 major religions.

Give me an idea of how you would amend and I might agree.
