The Republic of Korea Army (RoKA) has signed an agreement with the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT) to co-operate in the development of construction technologies aimed at boosting the protection of military installations in South Korea amid heightened tensions over Pyongyang’s development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
The Ministry of National Defense (MND) in Seoul said in a statement on 17 October that the KICT has developed a high-performance cement composite, along with the associated construction techniques, that offers protection that is 2.5 times more effective than using ordinary concrete.
