2 former presidents — from both parties — blast the state of American politics in unprecedented day
Business Insider--Politics; Oct 19, 2017, Allan Smith

The two most recent presidents on Thursday blasted the state of US politics in events that were separated by less than 20 miles.

First, it was former President George W. Bush. The most recent former Republican president lambasted a political culture that caused "bigotry" to seem "emboldened." The public comments were Bush's most pointed since President Donald Trump took office in January.

<snip>

Later in the day, in nearby Newark, former President Barack Obama hit the campaign trail for the first time since leaving office and took a subtle swipe at the political climate that Trump has cultivated in his rise to power.

At an event for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy in New Jersey, Obama, who has avoided criticizing Trump publicly, criticized the "politics of division" that "we see now."

And one of those two, cowardly caved and said nothing...giving rise to the second.

Now the first speaks...no!

Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning, they want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.

And those two are precisely the reason the state of American politics is the way they are now.

If Bush wasn't going to respond to Obama after Obama blamed virtually everything on him for 8 years, he shouldn't have said anything about Trump even after Trump rewrote the history of Iraq and WMD saying Bush lied to get us into a war.

History itself is rewriting the Bush narrative on the Iraq war and the removal of Saddam.

What's bad about this, is it makes the two part of the "silent coup" type of crowd, it's certainly pressuring.

Presidential Campaigns, things get said. I don't remember real clear about President Bush but I know it is true with a lot of candidates.

And these two set the table for the election of Trump.

    • I try my best ...

This has to be a joke. Obama was the most divisive and openly racist President in modern times. All he wanted to talk about was how horrible American White Christians are, while promoting Muslims and Blacks as saints who could do no wrong.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.

They're not a part of a silent coup.  This makes who they are and what they want sound conspiratorial @TomSea and easily dismissed.

George W. Bush and Barack Obama are representing their political philosophy-- one that is, in the lexicon introduced by Bush 41, a belief in and goal of achieving a "new world order".  A belief taken to its end that would mean nations without borders, global trade that could, but not necessarily, be fair to the citizens of the United States and a commitment to a world court of opinion, if not law itself.

There's nothing "silent" about what these two are simultaneously preaching.  I do, however, agree with Bush 43 that we cannot wish globalism away.  What has finally scared Junior to the podium after eight years of stone, cold silence is the American people are now voting away globalism.

We're saying "NO" to daddy's new world order.

I think they're honestly nervous that he's going to preemptively strike North Korea if they continue their missile launches while they're doing maneuvers with South Korea.

They know that President Trump means what he says, and that he's got the most powerful, technologically weapon-superior, military on the planet.

That's why the chorus on his mental state, lately.

To bring President Bush out against President Trump disturbs me.
