President Trump reportedly wants to appoint four justices
BY Elizabeth Elizalde

It may be a case of bravado, but President Trump expects to put four justices on the Supreme Court before his term runs out, according to a report.

Trump, who has already appointed Neil Gorsuch to replace late Justice Antonin Scalia, predicted Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg won’t last long in the Supreme Court, sources told Axios.

Sources say this; and there are supposed quotes in the article. Sotomayor has diabetes, I was not aware of this.

At the next appointment the left will come unglued.

F em. Trump had better stick to his list.

I don't know about Sotomayor.  If her diabetes is well controlled and she has no major complications, she might stay a while longer.

Ginsburg?  Well, she looks like death warmed over.

These justices want to hang on because the job pays well, it  isn't all that stressful, they have clerks to do much of the research and they have significant power over us riff-raff.   Not about to give it up without a fight.

I read that story and I don't believe it.

It said that Trump had figured out life expectancy for all the justices, including that one has diabetes and a shortened life expectancy.  It was pretty gross.

I mean a lot of people have wondered when certain justices might decide to retire but to do this death cycle thing ... creepy.

But I do wish he would get to put at least one more in.

I hope he does and he doesn't fall into appointing a "moderate" to replace a moderate.  Replacing kennedy and ginsberg would go a long way to making the supremes better.  Now if only sotomayor and kagen would decide to enjoy a nice long retirement. Followed by that traitor Roberts....

Ditto that.   The last thing we need right now is another so-called "moderate" (a leftie-leaning idiot that pretends not to be) on the USSC.  And yeah... we need another solid conservative appointment to counter that Judas Roberts.

Rumor has it that Kennedy is going to retire soon.  As for Ginsburg, who knows.  She's no spring chicken but last I had read she's still doing her exercise regime along with pushups.  I would love to see Trump replacing them both; provided he's appointing people from the list he shared with Cruz.

Unfortunately I'm afraid one of the next to go may be Clarence Thomas. He has been hinting at retiring for a while now.  He will be hard to replace - a rock solid conservative.

This is a clear signal that he intends to be POTUS for 2 terms.

Ginsburg is a weird old gal.  I don't know how spry her mind is but I suspect her knee-jerk reactions on everything are liberal.

I think she's 82 or 83 but she has a personal trainer and does the pushups faithfully.

I said to my doctor here on the Island, I should be more like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and he said ...

wait for it ... "I don't know who that is."

I really think being on the Court is the most important thing in her life.  I don't expect her to retire unless her health gets much worse.

I see no reason to think Trump won’t appoint more conservatives to the bench. He hasn’t deviated from his agenda yet. Why should he start now?

He is of the highest caliber, right up there with Scalia. Spectaular legal mind that comes along once a generation. Even nominating another stalwart conservative won't be as good a replacement.

Way to go.  Auntie Maxine is not going to be pleased at all!  She's still working on impeachment.   :silly:

I wish we knew if that list he relayed to Cruz was applicable to just Scalia's replacement or if it included future replacements.  I know getting conservative justice on the bench was one of Cruz's top priorities and concerns.

Trump and his team (especially WH Counsel John McGahn) have done a great job recruiting and nominating youngish Conservatives to fill District and Appeals level benches this past 9 months.   Unfortunately, Grassley and McConnell have been slow to get these nominees through the confirmation process to a floor vote.   Part of it is the silly tradition of allowing home-state Senators to "Blue slip" - essentially approve - candidates before they are brought for confirmation.   Liberals like Franken of MN and Wyden of OR have blocked the process with their inaction in this approval process.   There are currently 50 nominations still awaiting confirmation hearings and vote:

http://www.uscourts.gov/judges-judgeships/judicial-vacancies

Get those 50 nominees through the process, name faithful young Constitutionalists for the other 100 vacancies and a huge weapon of the Left - robed activists/ideologues - will be minimized.

The remaking of the Federal district and appeals bench was one of the primary reasons I supported Trump last November and continue to support him now.   This will be his lasting legacy, and knock on wood he's been faithful to his promises thus far.

Kennedy's been rumored to be weighing retirement for a while now.  I think he likes being the "swing vote" and all the attention and power that goes with that.   We saw it with O'Connor before him ... they become the darlings of the Left, media and the legal elite when occupying that space and seem to find all the adulation intoxicating.
