Brain exam on Vegas shooter shows no signs of abnormalities

Doctors have begun Stephen Paddock’s autopsy — with an examination of his brain revealing no abnormalities on Tuesday, according to police.

Little is known about the 64-year-old retiree’s mental health, but his brother had previously told reporters that he was hoping authorities would find “a tumor in his head” in the days following his Las Vegas massacre.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo says this wasn’t the case, though.

Speaking to the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday, Lombardo described how Paddock’s autopsy — while still in its early stages — had not shown anything abnormal.

I've seen ballistic gel test. I can name one abnormality.

My thought as well.  He put a bullet through it, how much would be left.  At most the doc could look for signs of dementia, mad cow disease, or maybe some kinda tumor from the mush that was left.

Tumor tissue is different from normal tissue.  They should be able to say this with quite a bit of confidence.

Looking at the photo of the dead shooter, I don't think it is possible to tell where the suicide shot was placed. Looks like a GSW to the chest and blood bubbled up into his mouth. I don't see any grey matter on the rug. Was his brain turned to mush?

Blood was pooled around his head.  I've seen a similar incident, and no, gray matter was not visible until moved.
