Is this the last time we can celebrate Columbus Day?

A wave of cities have decided to remove the holiday from the calendar and replace it with “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.”

Christopher Columbus, the Italian explorer credited with discovering America, and his legacy are under attack figuratively and, increasingly, literally.

Several Columbus monuments have been attacked and vandalized around the country. The towering Columbus statue at Columbus Circle in New York City now needs 24-hour guards after Mayor Bill de Blasio put it on the list of a commission to review “offensive” memorials.

And according to Far Left Watch, a watchdog organization, Antifa and other left-wing groups plan to deface and attack Columbus statues across the country on Columbus Day.

It is unfortunate to see what was once a uniting figure — who represented American courage, optimism, and even immigrants — is suddenly in the crosshairs for destruction. We owe it to Columbus and ourselves to be more respectful of the man who made the existence of our country possible.

If they tear down all the statues of Columbus, they might as well tear down virtually every statue made of every historical figure before the last 100-200 years.
Few great historical figures were free of the sins many people prate about today as making somebody so evil their visages cannot be countenanced in public.
The simple fact is European exploration of N.America was bound to happen. Five hundred years ago and more there were few or no  people who would measure up to today's standards of how people should treat everybody.
Columbus brought the advent of European civilization to this country.  The Indians were mostly living in  a stone age culture practicing many of the same things they criticize the European explorers for doing. 
The Indians engaged in warfare, slavery, torture cruelty, conquering of other peoples....in short, they did everything the Europeans are accused of being evil for doing.
Except save for a few agriculural products (yeah, thanks for the tobacco, hack, hack),  they've contributed little or nothing to world
civilization. They didn't even have the wheel.
So everybody shut up about Columbus and be glad he and subsequent explorers made it over here. You might all still be living in the stone age without them.

You have to challenge Dems on everything. They are now mostly leftists. They will attempt to destroy every vestige of traditional America if they can. That's why you make a stink about it when they do things like this.

Well, that's essentially what they want to do.
It's not Columbus per se that they're trying to "tear down".
It's white, Christian, Western culture.

They want to destroy that.

I want to see it preserved, as SUPERIOR to all other cultures.
