Jim Reeves - Suppertime

Another often covered-song, this has been posted before.  I pretty much remember the first time I'd heard it coming off the airwaves one weekend evening....

Never heard this by Gentleman Jim, but it imparts a wonderful blend of nostalgia and anticipation. Absolutely loved it! Thanks for posting it.

Brown Mountain Lights

The Brown Mountain Lights are a series of ghost lights reported near Brown Mountain in North Carolina. The lights can be seen from the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile posts 310 (Brown Mountain Light overlook) and 301 (Green Mountain overlook) and from the Brown Mountain Overlook along North Carolina Highway 181 (NC 181), near Jonas Ridge, North Carolina. Additionally, good sightings of the lights have been reported from the top of Table Rock and Wiseman's View, both located in the Linville Gorge Wilderness. The best time of year to see them is reportedly September through early December .

Wikipedia does let you cut right to the chase and see what this is purportedly about.

And Tommy Faile, famous songwriter of "Phantom 309", he recorded under another name too. I'd have to refresh my memory.

That song "Come In Stranger" listed above by Johnny Cash, I think it sounds like it takes the riff from the "Wildwood Flower", it's a good song, I'm not criticizing it but it does sound a bit like that other that is very renown classic... probably because it is so old... but it's got a hook to it too.

Oh, I knew that Clint Black song... I didn't know he sang it.

Here is a song Ricky Van Shelton sang, this by Jack Greene, I see he was on the country charts in the '60s but I didn't know much about him, much if anything at all. This is one of those country songs that for me at least, was one of those you file away.

These are all really great songs, "Long Black Veil" too, which must be kind of a country standard now. That's a great version you posted. @AllThatJazzZ

This is such a simple song, and there is nothing spectacular about the singing, but for some reason it seems to be one of my new favorite songs. Damn thing has been out since the late 60's or early 70's,and I just heard it for the first time maybe a week ago. How the HELL is that even possible?
