Dems face pressure from left on gun control

Democrats are under pressure from a resurgent left that wants tough gun control legislation in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

But Democratic leaders want to focus on more modest goals on gun control that are deliverable, such as expanded background checks and closing loopholes.

Hanging over everything is the 2018 midterm elections, when Senate Democrats will be defending 10 seats in states won by President Trump.

   President Trump, having his political roots in NY Liberalism, does anyone here really believe he'd go to the Mat for the NRA or the Second Amendment, IMHO it's becoming more evident with each passing day it was all crap and all negotiable on the campaign trail and more importantly will this be the straw that breaks his base's back? Stay Tuned for the exciting conclusion of?

   Added: To stick to Topic, Trump is also facing pressure from his Right.

We'll see if Trump holds the line on this. I don't think he will based on his past. He campaigned in 2000 for an "assault" weapons ban.

As a populist the wind is blowing in new direction for him...

And soon we'll be hearing from his supporters how they support the new "common sense" guns laws Trump will ask for.

Dems want expanded background checks.  So Dems, before you pass yet another worthless feel good law, tell us how expanded background checks would have stopped the LV shooting?
