Trump slams Puerto Rico: ‘They want everything to be done for them’
By Brandon Carter - 09/30/17 07:34 AM EDT

President Trump on Saturday criticized Puerto Rico's "poor leadership" and defended his administration's response to the aftermath of Hurricane Maria's devastation on the island in an early morning series of tweets that earned immediate backlash from Democrats and other critics.

Following a plea for aid on Friday by San Juan's mayor, Trump said the mayor was being "nasty."

“The mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump,” Trump tweeted. "Such poor leadership ability by the mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help."

He's right. Of course we'll get the usual outrage from the Left.

Absolutely he's right!  It was the same in New Orleans during Katrina!

I can understand why Trump wants to spin the recovery.  What the media did to Bush in 2005 was defamatory.  The San Juan mayor sounded hysterical during that interview ... not a person in a position of leadership.  She is in over her head, and she knows it.

Why aren't the people of Puerto Rico clearing the roads so supplies can be transported off the docks?

Puerto Rico is a disaster that started well before the hurricane.  The mainland should have turned them loose a long time ago.

Note to the Governor of Puerto Rico and the Mayor of San Juan...Here's a thought, instead of wearing stupid T Shirts that accomplish nothing, how about showing some leadership and getting the people needed in a time of crisis back to work. It's not the mainland that has abandoned Puerto Rico, it's the citizens on the island that aren't helping their own. Namely the people that have the skills to get the goods at the port to the people that need it. But hey, I guess it's better optics and garners more sympathy to go on TV and whine that no one is helping you and that you're "dying".

When only 20% of the available drivers have shown up for work and there are 10 THOUSAND containers of food medicine and other supplies just sitting on the docks with only 4% of the stuff delivered to those in need...it's time to stop playing politics...crying to the camera's that "we're dying...roll up your damn sleeves and DO SOMETHING.

 :amen:  I just went through Irma, and during the storm several people got out and cut fallen branches with hand saws and moved trees out of the way so that emergency vehicles could get in and out.  It would seem to me that if debris was in the way of me getting food and water, and would be trying to move the debris out of the way.  I'm not a big person, but I know I'd be moving what I could out of the way and little by little it'd get done. It's a no-brainer!  You also help your neighbors, starting with the kids and elderly and you start cleaning things up as best you can.  Yes it involves physical labor...a lot of us would rather do something than nothing and certainly don't expect a handout.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I wouldn't call it spin.  Puerto Rico wasn't in good shape before the hurricane.  Now it is in awful, simply awful shape.  No power, and even with shipping lanes open, no place to dock ships and get supplies in.

If the mayor wants to go on a hysterical rant, maybe she should think about not dissing the guy who's trying to help her and who has the power to do so.

Totally right and it happened in Houston.  Regular people cleared most of the debris and volunteers did much of the rescue work.

This exemplifies the problem with 3rd world peoples who wish to become Americans who have no desire to participate in the American culture and experience.  These include illegal immigrants.

This is not a racial issue, it is an American culture issue.

These people do not know JFK's call to "Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you can do for your country".

We do not need more wards of the state looking for handouts.  We need people who will pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

No punishment, in my opinion, is too great, for the man who can build his greatness upon his country's ruin~  George Washington

I think it was a very insensitive tweet, lacking any compassion for the people of Puerto Rico at this great time of despair.  That being said the Gov. (hellary delegate)and Mayor (attention ho)  or reminding me more and more of these 2.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Trump spent four days at his Golf Club with his cabinet discussing his travel ban.  Not a word about PR.
Now he's indignant that he's being criticized...

That describes most, if not all, lefties in positions of power.  See:  Mayor Nagin (now in jail) and Gov. Blanco.  They, being lefties, will never ever admit to anything being their fault or failure.  It will always be someone else's doing.... in this case, they blame Trump.  Naturally.  It's what the idiot left does and how they roll.

If Trump had that magical "D" beside his name, instead of the dreaded "R".... she would be falling all over herself a la Chris Christie-style over Trump's every word, utterance and tweet.  As would most of Hollyweird, DC and the lamestream media.

If the Mayor of San Juan wants to get mad about something...or at someone...she needs get mad about the fact that there are millions of tons of relief supplies already on the ground and they aren't getting out to the people. If she wants to stop being polite...she can start chewing on her staff and her emergency managers to come up with a plan to get relief to the people. Not trying to blame others. The USVI was hit pretty bad to...but you don't hear this kind of complaining from them.

San Juan Mayor Praised Convicted FALN Terrorist
Reporter Kerry Picket
12:37 PM 09/30/2017

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, who attacked President Donald Trump for his response to the hurricane devastion in Puerto Rico, has previously praised FALN terrorist leader Oscar Lopez Rivera.

Yulin Cruz is a member of Puerto Rico’s Popular Democratic Party that wants the island to remain a U.S. territory. But she sounded more like a member of the island’s Independence Party in a video that surfaced back in January when President Barack Obama commuted the sentence of Rivera Lopez.

It sounds about right that this moronic leftist mayor would thank Obama for pardoning a terrorist.  And it also sounds about right that Obama pardoned the leftist terrorist.  Look at Obama's good buddy (just a guy in the neighborhood) Bill Ayers.... another terrorist with blood on his hands.

As for PR becoming a US State now.... not just no, but HELL NO.  If they're stupid enough to elect someone like Cruz, they're too dumb and too leftist to join our club.  We have enough leftist stupids as it is.
