House GOP Poised To Move $10 Billion For Border Wall
« on: September 28, 2017, 08:03:57 pm »
House Republicans next week will begin moving legislation to provide billions of dollars for wall construction at the southern border — a central campaign promise of President Trump that has so far eluded the GOP-led Congress.

The House Homeland Security Committee will mark up the legislation — the Border Security for America Act — on Oct. 4, the panel announced Wednesday.

When the wall gets built,  are people going to give the credit where it is due?

When and IF the wall gets built ... when the budget is approved in both the House and Senate and the President signs it, then we can talk about giving credit where credit is due.  Keep in mind that the Secure Fence Act was passed by both Houses and signed by Bush ... but somehow 11 years later, we're still waiting for funding for additional fence.  11 years is a long time to evade funding for a bill that passed.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

I will.  I don't know why Trump tweeted that all he was doing is existing fence renovations.  He is his own worst enemy.  But along with the wall there has to be other actions too.  Some illegal immigrants need to go home.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

That depends on which way the guard towers face.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

For my part, yes.  As much as I hate to say anything good about Congress...
