In an effort to find a cheaper surveillance drone, one that could be easily deployed from the field, the U.S. Marine Corps is considering a 3D printed model developed by Next Generation Logistics, or NexLog. NexLog has been working in San Francisco to build a handheld drone that could be tossed by a marine into the air for short reconnaissance flights. The drone concept came out of last year's "Make Your Corps" challenge, which highlighted the need to "find new and creative ways to implement wearables that give us a tactical advantage over our adversaries."
