The senior adviser set up the account after the election. Other West Wing officials have also used private email accounts for official business.

Presidential son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner has corresponded with other administration officials about White House matters through a private email account set up during the transition last December, part of a larger pattern of Trump administration aides using personal email accounts for government business.

Kushner uses his private account alongside his official White House email account, sometimes trading emails with senior White House officials, outside advisers and others about media coverage, event planning and other subjects, according to four people familiar with the correspondence. POLITICO has seen and verified about two dozen emails.

Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner used a private email account to carry out official White House business, his lawyer said.

During his campaign, Mr Trump repeatedly criticised rival Hillary Clinton for using a personal email account while secretary of state.

The president frequently encouraged crowds at rallies to chant "lock her up", and vowed to imprison Mrs Clinton over concerns she may have mishandled classified information. An investigation into the matter was closed without charges.

Until Hillary is in an orange jumpsuit and chains for her email conduct - I can care less what anyone else does or has done in regards to e-mails in our government.

She already giveaway the whole enchilada - so I doubt there's anything more grievous to the damage to our national security than what Hillary sold for pay for play access.

And so did Obama, and so did Hillary.  It's what Democrats DO.  And it's perfectly ok for them to do it, them being Democrats and all.   But you better not be a Republican caught doing it!

Per usual, the Democrats set newer, ever lower, standards for the rest of the nation to follow.

Point of information; It is not illegal for a White House staffer or other functionary of government to use a private server to communicate. Unless classified information (secret, top secret, etc) is transmitted. Use of private servers is commonly used by government functionaries but only for non-secure applications.

Hill-O-Lies violated the Espionage Act in so many diverse ways foremost using it to convey the most classified, top secret information imaginable. Also other violations due to using her own private server to do an end-run around FOIA. This use by Kushner is not even unethical, it's mundane.
