Thank you Sen. Cruz and @Emjay for posting this.  I had just figured Cruz was laying low because his reelection was first and foremost on his mind and he didn't want to pizz off Trump and get an unwelcome primary opponent from the GOP side, like Moore in Alabama has done.

Added @TomSea (after all what is a Cruz thread without that neverCruzer Tom here?)

Cruz is not at all worried about a primary opponent. By the time the primaries roll around, we'll have endured another 4-6 months of Trump tweets and GOPe missteps. As stalwart as the Orange Grenadiers have been, their numbers have not grown.

I am currently battling dozens of progressives on twitter over the "take a knee thing". I'll get back to you when I have the time to look for the threads.

You're battling progressives?  Interesting.

Good job on Cruz's part.

Can we now just repeal the whole damn thing and get the government OUT of the healthcare insurance business??

Do it right, or don't do it at all.

Okay .... but Congress obviously needs a push in this direction @Elderberry

The President should end the special health insurance subsidy for elected members of the House and Senate ... and their overpaid staffs.

They obviously lack an incentive to take action on this monstrosity, so let them live it as it really is, in real time.

The answer right now is "no".  Our elected officials are too insulated from the actual impact of Obamacare .... so I really do hope the President ends the special health care subsidy for elected officials and their staffs.

Takes 50 votes plus Pence. Total repeal fares gets even fewer votes, than the versions tried to date.

Ah, no he  .  McCain, Collins and Paul had already killed it.

Doesn't hurt to have reinforcements.  Besides.  He took a stand.  This will win him votes in his re-election campaign.

Sounds like Cruz and Lee were attempting to 'make sausage'. Nothing wrong with that. Rand Paul took the lead in that the last go around (for Conservatives).

Amazing how many of the ***** faithful are so desperate for a legislative "win" for their guy they not only are they supporting him embracing deals with Marxist Liberals...they are perfectly happy to settle for a health care plan only slightly better that what Hillary was trying to push back in 1992.

Pathetic.

I applaud Cruz on this one; now I'm just waiting for Trump's retribution.

The asteriks don't tell us much.  Speak up.

I think you're wrong about this.  I think people have become discouraged about getting total repeal with this Congress, and they are right.

So, we have a couple of options.  Try to chip away at Obamacare and make it a little better or wait and hope that either the 2018 elections will give us a better Congress or that Obamacare will collapse of its own evil.

When Ted Cruz supports a bill, I'll believe it's worth supporting.

Well, scuse me, but that's wrong also.  Cruz was waiting to see if they would include his amendment.  Rand Paul had nothing to do with Cruz' decision.  Cruz is willing to pass a bill if it actually helps enough to be worthwhile.  Rand Paul is not.

Ted Cruz came up with a healthcare plan before he even ran for the oval office.  He's proposed several amendments since then.  He's met with his majesty on this issue.  No one is listening ... except his supporters.  This is a feather in his cap.

GOP to introduce new Obamacare overhaul bill  (Monday)

by Kimberly Leonard | Sep 24, 2017, 12:40 PM

Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., who has sponsored a bill to overhaul Obamacare, said Sunday he and his colleagues will introduce a new version of the bill Monday, but didn't elaborate on what the changes would be.

Cassidy suggested a score from the Congressional Budget Office was expected Monday, and said on ABC's "This Week" a new draft of his bill meant "some of what we'll be seeing tomorrow will be no longer relevant."

A CBO score will provide information for lawmakers on whether the legislation would increase the number of uninsured and what the costs will be to the federal government.

I agree. First on principle (Equal protection clause), but if they had to shell out nearly 30K a year, even on their salaries, for a policy that has huge deductibles, that would make a dent and it would hurt.
Though I still doubt they would have a clue what it means to the self-employed guy out there making $60K

@jpsb I don't do twitter, but I found this, from Thursday and it kinda makes your point, he was going to vote FOR it on Thursday, days after Rand Paul moved out to the ledge to meet the press.

Agree, Thank you.  Yes thanks to Senator Cruz for sanity.  The reason I would not criticize Paul for not supporting this crappy bill.  Just for those reasons.  Higher premiums than O care.  Which has sky rocketed out of reach for many Americans.  And if you think those subsidies helped the working families who make 40,000-50,000 a year think again.  I qualified for $1 a month.  Still with O care the mandate for small businesses finally kicked in and I received medical insurance.  Good thing too because I was diagnosed with cancer.

With this crappy bill it removes mandate and tax credits for small businesses.  Which means people like me would be left without insurance once again.  The exchanges to get a individual policy would cost 1 person something like, (three years ago) $400-$700 with a $3,000 to $5,000 deductible.

Take us to the cleaners!

Well Trump billionaire campaigned and won almost solely by the might of the American workers.  Its obvious he doesn't give a crap about them.
