Rand Paul: I won't vote for Obamacare overhaul bill unless key provision is dropped
by Kyle Feldscher | Sep 24, 2017, 10:59 AM

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul said the only way he would vote for an Obamacare overhaul bill currently in the Senate is if a key piece of the legislation is dropped.

Paul said on "Meet The Press" Sunday he'd vote for the healthcare bill proposed by Sens. Lindsey Graham and Bill Cassidy if they dropped a provision block granting Affordable Care Act funding to the states instead of having it come from the federal government.

That provision is central to the legislation, and Paul said it's unacceptable for him.

"What it sets up is a perpetual food fight over the formula," he said. "What happens when Democrats win? They're going to claw back that money from Republican states to give to Democrat states."

I wonder if Paul, Cruz, Collins, McCain will spend this week in front of the cameras or working in the Senate to revise the bill on the table and building support for revisions.

??? Cruz has proposed amendments that fell on deaf ears, that's why he can't support the bill.

So what?  Does he quit and stay in front of the cameras this week or work harder on the amendment @libertybele

He still has the same two choices as Paul, Collins and McCain.

Cruz, Lee and a few others have worked all along to get something more inline with what most decent, honest American taxpayers want, not just a checkmark in the Trump WIN column. There is a significant difference between the two.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Rand is exactly right on this point.  It's the usual fedgov picking winners and losers via unequal doling out of taxpayer dollars deemed  "free money" (bribes) to states that cowtow to (bow down to) the leftist god, FedGov.  It figures that Lindsay has his name on this "piece" of legislation.

No quarter given to the enemy within...ever.

Not to the people of Maine and Alaska; they're quite happy with their representation.

And remember, some very "decent, honest American taxpayers" disagree with Cruz, Lee and Paul---and consider them to be intransigent obstructionists to any step in the right direction.

Not me, of course ....  :smokin:

The provision that Cruz favors, Collins most likely opposes.

Add to Cruz and Collins, two or three likeminded Senators on each end, and the impasse becomes permanent.

A Leader, a Statesman, in the traditional sense, would posses and use his superior legislative governance skills, to PERSUADE the requisite opposing members to change positons.

Cruz could make a real mark for his future, to achieve this regarding such a big and important issue.

I would really like for him to do so, and to get full credit.
