Ukrainian-born American billionaire donates to RNC account to help cover Trump's legal costs during Russia probe
by Diana Stancy Correll | Sep 22, 2017, 7:14 PM

A Ukrainian-born American billionaire with business ties to Russian oligarchs is one of several wealthy donors who contributed to the Republican National Committee's account that is helping to pay President Trump's legal fees in connection with the Russia investigation.

In addition to approximately $200,000 to other RNC accounts, billionaire Len Blavatnik contributed $12,700 to the RNC's legal fund in April. Last year, he contributed $100,000 to the RNC's legal fund, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

Blavatnik was born in Ukraine and accrued a fortune conducting business in Russia prior to moving to the U.S. in his early 20's after the Soviet Union collapsed. Additionally, he has a business partner named Viktor Vekselberg who has connections to the Kremlin.

I thought Len Blavatnik was a UK citizen?  He is listed as the UK's richest citizen.

The fund is also paying Trump Jr.'s legal bills at the tune of $200,000 so far. Monies from Trump's re-election fund have also been used for his legal fees.

While Trump supporters will defend this by saying that it's legal not all that is legal is ethical. That is probably why Pence is paying his own legal fees. Why isn't it ethical? It leaves the door open to corruption and we can see how by examining who these private donors are. One of them is a property developer seeking U.S. government visas. If I wanted to win favor with the POTUS and get his attention I'd surely be donating money as well. The Ukrainian born billionaire has a business partner who has strong Russian connections. For a guy who is trying to deny he has any Russian connections the optics are not good. Russia keeps popping up all over the place in connection with Donald Trump, his business associates, some of his political appointees and his family as well.
