Why John McCain opposes the Graham-Cassidy Obamacare overhaul
by Robert King | Sep 23, 2017, 12:01 AM

Sen. John McCain shook Republicans Friday by once again opposing a major bill aimed at overhauling Obamacare.

But the Arizona Republican signaled throughout the week that he would vote against the measure, stressing that his concerns about Republicans going around the Senate's normal process, which he had voiced as he opposed another effort in late July, had not been fully addressed. Those concerns were enough for McCain to once again buck his party and go against his closest friend in the Senate, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, who was a key sponsor of the new bill.

McCain announced Friday he will oppose the legislation considered Republicans' last shot at repealing Obamacare, saying a key problem is the lack of process and regular order as Republicans rushed to advance the bill.

Yep, attention.  That's it.  The face of the opposition.

It'd be one thing if there were some good faith negotiating efforts to put together a bill, but between McCain's deliberate obstruction for obstruction's sake and Paul's grandstanding because it's not his own bill, it's clear that childish petulance is what's stopping any form of reform or repeal from passing.

McCain hates Trump and will not be part of giving Trump a legislative win. Paul on the other hand is just being stupid.

Well.... at least the article (author) called it by its correct term.... overhaul..... vs. repeal.  That's something, anyway.

Quote
overhaul - take apart (a piece of machinery or equipment) in order to examine it and repair it if necessary

repeal - revoke or annul (a law or congressional act)

Big/huge/major difference between the two.

And the reason why McCain is opposing it is because his friends across the aisle (the rats) oppose it.  It's no more complex than that.

I always get the sense that when one Congressman calls another Congressman "My friend XX" or "My good friend XX" that is Congressional euphemism for "That a-hole XX"

In reading the article his reasoning is ridiculous, seeing that they've been mulling around repealing/replacing the healthcare bill for months, his reasoning doesn't make sense.  He wants the attention and he's being an azz; other than that, the only other reason would be is that he is clearly off his rocker!

Normally....(with normal Congresscritters).... that is the way it goes.  But with McCain.... just review how he "normally" votes (ie with the Democrats).
