There was a hurricane down in the Pacific by Baja that went north and fell apart as the ocean temperature dropped. That isn't all that unusual for California. It provided the moisture/energy for the thunderstorms that passed through. There has been significantly more violent thunderstorms that have passed through before.

Why does every storm, hurricane, rain event have to have a larger meaning these days?
