We were told that 'Lyin Ted' would be a disaster, so instead they pushed 'Duplicitous Don' the outsider, non politician who waged the dirtiest insider political campaign to be seen for a long time. All in all if it wasn't for DDT's character assassination and backroom treason by the GOP we would very likely have ended up with someone no better liked by Washington insiders but infinitely better equiped to actually get a Conservative agenda enacted.

Yes, sir.  That's about the truth of it.

That cannot be a serious question.

Actually, I do think he'd respond to criticism, if he found that all the accolades ceased when he veered left.  But those on their knees before him refuse to get up, so he has no reason to stop moving left.

He's ignorant of the normal process and the GOP sure so t gonna help.  All he knows is twitter.

And I stand by my stance that "only twits do twitter"...lol.

He needs to get a clue ...fast.  Not .... holding my breath for that to occur, however.

Right now.... I feel that our side (the non-leftist side) is totally and completely leaderless.  It's a really sucky feeling to have.  But it fits right in with the doom & gloom prophecies I've been reading lately.  A rudderless, leaderless and divided society will not survive the assaults of evil that is ongoing throughout the world.

Ahhh....well.  At least we're going to our doom a little slower now...eh?

The fact of the matter is that anything coming out of the area east of Michigan and North of the Mason Dixon line is not going to be Conservative. And the same applies for the left coast.

Evern those who can truly claim Conservatism therein have a taint that comes with living amidst ultra-liberalism. That funk don't rub off easy.

Like what, the wall?  Obamacare repeal?  DACA repeal?  About the only promise Trump(D) hasn't fully repudiated yet is starting trade wars with our main trading partners.

I have seen/known the occasional refugee who is at least salvageably conservative, but they've  usually been mugged by the socialists, usually multiple times before they get here. A couple of them turned out to be fine folks.

I couldn't agree more @XenaLee. This lack of leadership is a big problem for the GOP. Under normal circumstances, the President would be the leader of his party but clearly Trump isn't interested in that, IMO because he want to maintain his ability to "blame" Congress. This is textbook selfishness and poor leadership, but he's more interested in maintaining his image than doing what's right for the country. JMO.

This "strategy", if you can call it that, really jeopardizes his entire legislative agenda but he's too shortsighted to even recognize that. It's going to be an awful long and frustrating four years........for Donald I'm afraid if he doesn't temper his approach and I have no reason to think he will.

More than that - Like in his election campaign, he purposefully exacerbated differences in the party and left it shattered. There is no percentage in pissing off literally everyone you purport to have to work with. You can rack that up to ignorance if you like...

Our governor here in Michigan is no conservative but he recognizes that we are an increasingly conservative leaning state. He's a far better businessman than Trump. He's actually strengthened and grown business and diplomatic ties with Israel, South Korea, Australia and others. He also supports continuing the state keeping economic sanctions against Iran. He's a better diplomat than Trump and has actually gotten Canada to pay several billion to build a new bridge over the Detroit river. The one that everybody remembers is signing RTW into law without reservations.

Has a bill for any of the above been put on his desk?

I thought your prince was the Great Negotiator? The King of DealMakers that will MAGA??

Surely if Trump can sit down to a nice dinner with Pelosi and Schumer which resulted in a nice agreement to hand them our wallets while expanding government spending limits, Trump could have done likewise with Ryan, McConnell and McCain and other Establishment cronies to negotiate and make a deal with them to get what he originally said he wanted?

We've all known rocket scientist bright gals who couldn't pick a decent boyfriend if their lives depended on it. We frequently wonder why this or that gal ended up with some jackass who treated her like crap and sponged off of her.   She is far from alone, she just fishes in a different pond from most.  I'd reckon, too that at some point any decent feller has wondered what it would be like to be the target of one so eminently capable of shredding vitriol, and decided to seek safer harbor.

Oh no.

Remember.... ONLY Trump could beat Hillary.

Who cares if the only guy to call McConnell the liar he was and throw monkey wrenches in his efforts to hand the Democrats everything, was the better Conservative?

It was never about advancing a Conservative agenda.

It was ONLY about 'stopping Hildabeast' and imposing payback and punishment.

That's all that mattered to most.

Trump harnessed the anger and frustration of a middle class that had been 'held down' by the Obama Administration, by the blatant favoritism toward some groups over others, by the rampant destructive policies which had been passed, and the inaction on things which mattered. He hit a harmonic, generated and harnessed existing anger and rode that wave.
Angry people don't think. Angry people don't listen. Angry people will turn on a friend who tries to calm them. Sound familiar?
