Pelosi: McConnell 'unwittingly' helped Dems win Trump deal
« on: September 14, 2017, 03:19:34 am »
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) "unwittingly" helped Democrats secure a deal last week with President Trump on short-term government funding and the debt ceiling, as well as Hurricane Harvey relief.

Pelosi recalled in an interview with HuffPost that Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) called Pelosi's plan a “ridiculous, irresponsible, stupid" idea just hours before Trump agreed to it.

“And then, we went into a meeting where the president agreed to that ‘irresponsible, ridiculous, stupid proposal,’” Pelosi said.

She also told the publication that during last week's meeting with Trump and congressional leadership, McConnell "unwittingly, probably," gave Democrats an edge on making a deal when he proposed three months of government funding.

It is too bad we don't have some master deal maker and business genius at the top who could have seen through this and led the negotiation back in the right direction. But no, they make out the guy at the top to be a buffoon who will just go along with anything and fall for any 'deal'.

That, or he is getting exactly what he wants.

Not sure which is worse.
