Bannon plotting primaries against slate of GOP incumbents

The effort threatens to drain millions from party coffers that could be used against Democrats.

President Donald Trump’s closest allies are planning a slate of primary challenges against Republican senators, potentially undermining the party’s prospects in 2018 and further inflaming tensions between GOP leaders and the White House.

The effort is being led by Steve Bannon, Trump’s bomb-throwing former chief strategist, who is launching an all-out war against Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republican establishment. Bannon has begun holding private meetings with insurgent challengers, vowing his support. He’s coordinating with conservative mega-donor Robert Mercer, who is prepared to pour millions of dollars into attacks on GOP incumbents. Bannon has also installed a confidant at an outside group that is expected to target Republican lawmakers and push the Trump agenda.

I like Bannon more and more. Maybe a lot of these guys will retire like Harvey Dent just announced.

Good riddance to these liars and cheats.

My question though is who he intends to replace them with?   Trump suck-ups?  More liberals?  More liars and cheats?

I don't like this guy meddling with our elections...or anyone else for that matter.

You just reminded me of an interesting factoid I heard the other day. In normal 2-year congressional cycle 2 congressmen call it quits. This time 12 are leaving either to join the administration, seek outside employment, retire early or simply decline to run again.

Place that along side with Trump ending 2 political dynasties, Bush and Clinton, and Trump is looking like a perfect storm.

What has not meddling gotten us?

I see a bunch of elected Pubs who claim they will repeal obamacare and they didn't.

I see a bunch of elected Pubs who claim they want the borders and immigration under control and they haven't funded a wall and want to replace DACA with amnesty.

I see a bunch of elected Pubs who claim they want to overhaul the tax code and so far they can't even come up with rate cuts.

I see a bunch of elected Pubs who claim they will defund planned parenthood and they haven't.

I may not agree with Bannon about everything, but I agree with him on a lot more than I disagree with him on. He's right primary as many of the "Tuesday group" as he can identify and as many of the "moderate" Senators as possible. If he doesn't succeed in the primaries then don't vote for the Pubs. Good riddance to bad trash.

I think Pres. Trump represents a growing anger among the public. I know I'm fed up with the Pubs saying one thing and then doing something else. If the Rats weren't insane I consider them. As it is now I'll vote 3rd party.

It's not just Trump some of these incumbents have been against.  It's the conservative element of the party.

I say more power to Bannon if he can get a better candidate nominated.  What's wrong with that?

They've been meedling in our elections since time began, the most recent example is the Moore/Strange thing going on in Alabama.

In all fairness Cruz meddled in the last Speaker thing in the House, that didn't work out so well either, Ryan isn't a hell of a lot better than Boehner and I'm usually a glass half full kinda guy.
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

What's wrong is that I don't trust Bannon, or Trump for that matter.  I can see it now --a congress that merely rubber stamps anything Trump wants.  And going by his recent collusion with the Democrats, I have little confidence that what Trump wants will be what I and the rest of the nation needs.

I get that both houses of congress are corrupt and full of liberals from both parties.  But I can't be sure that any slate of Trump-approved candidates will be an improvement and could actually be worse.

I hate to see the GOP turn into a National Socialist party.

CNN will be giving Bannon lots of time as long as they believe he hurts Trump.

Yeah, Bannon went gaga for Trump, so the odds of him getting better candidates nominated are about the same as the odds of my winning the lottery without even buying a ticket.
