Oh, but I have a marvelous consistency in my love of pies... Any pies... Except lemon meringue and key lime, which I do recognize as pie, and do love - But it's a love i'd cheat on, and mean to.

As to the rest, they are all so wonderful, to include a good chocolate or banana pie.

My tip top favorites though: Dutch Apple/apple/ala-mode/whatever, Mississippi Mud Pie, and Cherry, warm and ala-mode. And cherry would share a near space with Huckleberry in the same fashion.

All that followed closely by Banana Cream and Pecan (PEE-can) - Though I find Pecan to be to rich and I normally can't have too much of it.

With Florida taking a horrific pounding from Irma so soon after Harvey’s flooding farther west, it’s now plain that President Trump was right to take that deal with Democratic leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi last week.

By agreeing to kick the can on the debt-limit and spending battles three months down the road, Trump avoided having Washington locked in another inside-baseball battle when so many Americans are suffering.

Maybe the president could’ve been nicer to GOP leaders Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan while taking the Dem offer. But the grim truth is that the Republicans’ elaborate strategizing has failed utterly so far this year.

It’s September, and ObamaCare remains unrepealed, unreplaced and unfixed. Any kind of tax reform or tax cut is now dicey, and even funding the government through the end of the next fiscal year is almost certainly going to require another one of those ginormous, swamp-feeding omnibus bills.

Moving change through Congress may sometimes require risking a public-relations hit, but it’s just crazy to fight such battles in the middle of huge natural disasters. Irma’s devastation is just more proof that Trump was the one seeing clearly here.

Well, one of you Southern gals has to teach me the secret of a Mississippi Mud Pie. Everybody up north goes dull in the eye when I say those words.

I am currently becoming enamored of a darlin little Arkansas sweet pea... But unfortunately, she has a serious handicap. She makes cornbread, biscuits and hush puppies with the best of them, but confectionery baking is not her strong suit at all (according to her, not me)...So no relief there. I am on my own for the cookies, pies, cakes and such

She's definitely riding the broom, no doubt about it.  This thread went that many pages of 'serious' debate and discussion and finally drifted to general humor and off-topic banality....like long threads always do eventually.   Gee... I would hate to go through life always being THAT 'serious' about everything all the time.   I kinda feel sorry for her.

The title throws me, though.
An inanimate object is anthropomorphized to justify laud handing the Democrats an unnecessary and clear victory in a textbook case of 'how not to negotiate'.

As I have stated (not sure if it was on this thread), that the 'great communicator' could have tweeted something to the effect of "Congress wants to hold up hurricane relief by stacking stuff on the bill. Contact them and give 'em hell for it. Tell them to pass a clean bill. " and been the voice of the People, pushing for just hurricane aid, without the usual Beltway Games, and holding the collective feet of the COngress to the fire.
It's a missed opportunity, not only to shame the Congress into action, but to unite the public behind him, and now the Dems know they can mess with any essential legislation and get their way, and like as not Trump will come hat in hand to them.
