Because 3 months from now there will be another excuse to do the same thing.

Just like there has been for the last 8 years.

It's a 3 months deal ... not the rest of our lives and he did it because of a national emergency.

What's wrong with you people?

Oh I don't know... the fact that Trump just handed the Democrats their much-needed sledge hammer over government shut downs and cuts to programs as the run-up to 2018 gets started in earnest?

The fact most Americans now think money grows on trees and can be printed out of thin air to be handed to whomever the government says needs it.

The fact we ALREADY pay for Major Disaster Relief with FEMA and everyone is exclaiming there is no money to help anyone out.

Shall I go on?
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

...in the meantime, Harvey and Irma victims have immediate access to funds and FEMA.

The 3 months/time frame isn't the point.  Point is.... Trump had leverage to use against the rats and he blew it....quite deliberately so.   The hurricane "deal" would have passed anyway....since the rats dared not diss or hold up a funding bill that was critical for a national emergency.  It was a given that that deal would pass.

For Trump to do what he did showed two things.  One, that he has the kind of juvenile temper that will lash out, illogically, when he is pissed off.... like the Trump-fans all say he was....at the GOP.  It was a stunt.  A stupid one, at that.  Two, he's not only not a 'great deal-maker'.... he doesn't even TRY to negotiate with his good buds the DemocRats.   Apparently the only real enemies Trump has are in the Republican Party.

Amazing how you have the Liberal talking points memorized and ready to whip out at a moments notice.

What happens in 3 months when the Liberals go into panic mode...again about running out of money and the debt ceiling needing to be raised...NOW!!!

I mean they already know that all they have to do to get Trump to go along with them is have their friends in the MSM praise him for his "bipartisanship" in giving them 99.9% of what they wanted.

There is BILLIONS of wasteful spending every year done by Congress that every alphabet agency that has any kind of budget oversight points out with regularity.

That money could be easily and quickly diverted from places like the EPA...Endowment for the Arts...Education Department...etc etc to actually be put towards something important.

But instead...Trump made a deal with the two worst people he could have buddied up with...just so he could crow about the great publicity he got from it.

Exactly right!

The argument that the ONLY way of getting FEMA hurricane funding was through a deal with Pelosi and Schumer is just nonsensical.  Trump not only gave away leverage, he handed it to the Democrats who will certainly use it.  Reports are that of all the options discussions with Trump and his team, caving to the Dems wasn't one of them.  This was apparently just Trump "winging it":  more impulsiveness -- not 12 dimensional chess.  I really had thought that Trump might bring a fresh perspective to Congressional/Foreign Policy negotiations and that his self-described deal-making prowess would help move stalled policy forward (e.g., ObamaCare, North Korea, debt limit, etc).  Sadly, I was apparently quite naive to believe that he was any kind of a deal-maker other than a simple bully.

Sometimes you have to pass up an opportunity to use that leverage.  Sometimes it's a trap, and this one smelled like it.

"TALK TO THE HAND!!"  It's Congress' issue.

Oh bullsh*t it's a "congress issue".

Last time I checked the Speaker...the Majority leader AND the President are all Republican Party members.

The President is the LEADER of the Republican Party.  It's HIS job to get HIS party in line to get HIS legislative goals and proposals introduced and passed through Congress.

It's a little word called leadership and it's something right now that Trump isn't displaying much of.  The going gets tough and he is in a position where he must step up...he bolts for the door and snuggles up to Schumer and Pelosi.

If it was ANYONE in the GOP other than Trump behaving this way you'd be raking them over the coals.

But because it's Donny...you're perfectly willing to give him a pass and actually defend him behaving like a Liberal Democrat.

It's pathetic.

Hardly.

I want him to display the leadership a President is supposed to display.

He could have very easily have called McConnell and Ryan into his office...or to put an even more dramatic touch on the importance of what he was going to say...showed up in THEIR offices and told them to get their act together and get things moving and even told them how they were going to do it.  But instead he reached out to his good friends Charles and Nancy.

See, another way to con people is the honey trap...  Publicly credit the mark with something he did not do or say, and shower praise - The mark could deny, and cite a mistake, but they seldom would... and in the mean time, you get the mark welded into the deal with hundreds of gossamer praise threads... Soon, he can't back out, even if he does catch on.

It's a lie, but it's a positive lie, and requires giving away credit where it isn't due. I have not knowingly witnessed Trump doing so, He usually is beating on someone with his lies... Which is one of the reasons I think he is a poor con, and a damn poor leader.

Yes that worked so well on OCare repeal. I do not think playing political games with GOP leadership while folks are hurting from Harvey and Irma was a winning hand. Trump needed to act fast and he did. Good job President Trump.

"Within hours, Democrats pitched exactly that plan to President Trump. And Trump bought it wholesale. Trump told the press, “We essentially came to a deal” with Democrats, calling the legislation “very good.” Trump ignored advice from his own team to push for a deal that would extend the debt ceiling beyond the midterms, meaning that Republicans will have to run up against the debt ceiling again before the election. So not only is this fiscally idiotic, it’s politically moronic."

In a negotiation setting – and this is basically his current job – Trump has never been known not to talk to all sides.  That's counterintuitive to the negotiation process.  But, a good negotiator also tries to gain an advantage for his position. That might entail delaying talks to rattle the opposition. It's basically poker.

Just the opposite.  McConnell and Ryan wanted a bill tied only to hurricane relief.  Trump sided with the Democrats.

Could be, but McConnell would never get it out of the Senate. Trump has been hammering McConnell to change the cloture rule, until that happens the Rats control the Senate.
