Amnesty is not immigration reform: Opposing view

There have been several legislative attempts to overhaul U.S. immigration policy over the past decade. All of them failed. The American people rejected these efforts because they were primarily focused on addressing the demands of the people who broke our laws, or business interests in search of cheaper labor. The public interest — how immigration affects the economic, social and national security interests of the American people — was, at best, an afterthought.
