Ryan: Shutdown over border wall not necessary
By Sylvan Lane - 08/23/17 02:32 PM EDT

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Wednesday that a government shutdown over President Trump’s border wall wasn’t necessary, instead asking the president to give Congress more time to fund the wall through regular order.

Ryan's remark that “no one” wants a government shutdown came after Trump said Tuesday night that he would veto a must-pass government funding bill if it didn’t include enough money for his promised wall along the southern border.

A presidential veto would shut down the federal government for the first time since 2013.

What's not needed is hearing from Paul Ryan again, on anything.
My 'Viking Hunter' High Adventure Alternate History Series is FREE, ALL 3 volumes, at most ebook retailers including Ibooks, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and more.

In Vol 2 the weapons come out in a winner take all war on two fronts.

Vol 3 opens with the rigged murder trial of the villain in a Viking Court under Viking law to set the stage for the hero's own murder trial.

He's the gift that keeps on giving for sure!  Who he's giving to is the problem!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Aca repeal would be easy if the republicans hadn't lied

Since when is Paul Ryan for socialism?

Since his push for daca, amnesty and refusal to support controlling our borders

ACA repeal would be easy if the republicans were conservatives.

:amen:  If they placed any importance on the oath of office they all take when sworn into office!  Unfortunately very few of them do!

Many were, if the leadership had pushed it then it would have passed.  Instead it failed because they wanted it too.

Trump proclaimed at the AZ rally that he would shutdown the government if necessary in order to get funding for the wall.  In the last budget monies were allocated to repair some of the existing wall and there was text within that budget that stated there would be no monies allocate for a future wall.  Trump signed that bill.  Now he's threatening to shutdown gov't if he doesn't get the money?  Meanwhile Ryan is stating that some money was already budgeted, but it takes time to implement things.  Really?  Last time I checked the Secure Fence Act passed in 2006; how much time Mr. Speaker does it take?

So here we have it...Trump is reaching out to his base telling them he's going to build that fence after he already signed a bill that doesn't allow for future monies and Ryan is telling us these things take time!!!  In other words, just like repealing Bammycare; it's NOT going to happen!!

How would a bill like that work though, stating no future money for anything?  Couldn't the next bill just say the opposite?  I don't think the current Congress will pass anything regarding building that wall, just wondering about the logistics of the current budget wording
