Flake tries to make nice with Trump

Sen. Jeff Flake, an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, took a more conciliatory tone on Thursday, even inviting the president to look at portions of the Arizona-Mexico border together.
“I was glad that the president came to Arizona, in particular his visit down to Yuma on the border,” Flake said on Fox News about the president’s visit to his state earlier this week. “I think the president and all of us share the same goal to have a secure border. And what we need to do is say what does that mean?”
Flake’s gentler rhetoric is in contrast to his previous attacks, which include a heavily critical book of the president called "Conscience of a Conservative." Flake on Thursday defended his comments by saying that he simply does not agree with everything any president does — regardless of their party affiliation.
