PHOENIX — A day of noisy but largely peaceful protests of President Donald Trump's speech in Phoenix turned unruly as police fired pepper spray at crowds after someone apparently lobbed rocks and bottles at officers.

A haze enveloped the night sky Tuesday as protesters and police clashed outside the convention center where Trump had just wrapped up his speech. People fled the scene coughing as an officer in a helicopter bellowed through a speaker urging protesters to leave the area.

Officers responded with pepper spray to break up the crowd after people tossed rocks and bottles and dispersed gas, Phoenix police spokesman Jonathan Howard said. It was not immediately known if there were injuries or arrests.

Just leftist thugs doing what leftist thugs do....trying to disrupt or prevent the expression of free speech by others.

Who knew a teargas gun could be so accurate. Somewhere in Pheonix a cop didn't have to buy his own beer last night.

If it was a pepperball, aren't those fired from basically a large paintball gun? I would think they would be fairly accurate, was this time anyway.

This is how you handle rabble.  Overwhelming presence and adequate force to meet the resistance.
This is how it is done... Charlottesville please take notes... there will be a test.

That's a particularly tortured sentence.  How about "protests turned violent as protestors lobbed rocks and bottles at officers"?
