Eleven US States Added Jobs In July
« on: August 20, 2017, 03:04:08 pm »
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hiring increased in 11 U.S. states in July, while the unemployment rate tumbled to record lows in two states.

The Labor Department said Friday that unemployment rates were relatively stable in most states. They fell in 15 states and rose in 23, but many of the changes were statistically insignificant.

The jobs report for states reflects the steady job gains in a recovery from the Great Recession that has entered its ninth year. The overall unemployment rate fell to 4.3 percent last month as employers added 209,000.

Several states saw strong job growth between June and July. California added 82,600 jobs. Florida gained 32,700. Pennsylvania saw hiring of 29,000.

Some good news, among the other political noise.

A lot of the job numbers issued by the last administration had me doubting them. Do you think these numbers are more reflective of the truth?

I don't particularly think they do.

They are currently doing a lot of grain harvesting here, followed by potatoes. I would think Idaho job numbers will show that increase of temporary/seasonal jobs. Followed by a downturn around October. I see more new homes being built than last year. And they have been doing some bigger road reconstruction projects.

Not necessarily, but if they're going to use the same formula, the press will have to admit there was an increase.

For the most part better numbers than a year ago.

I didn't know they had it split between ag related and metropolitan. Makes sense I guess.

And Texas...

Quote
In July, three states had unemployment rate increases: Alaska and Maine (+0.2 percentage
point each) and South Dakota (+0.1 point). Texas had the only notable rate decrease (-0.3
percentage point). The remaining 46 states and the District of Columbia had jobless rates
that were not notably different from those of a month earlier
