I actually caught that segment of his show today in the car @mystery-ak .  He was citing examples of what would need to happen to eliminate and rewrite the history of the South. He mentioned Gone with the Wind as one example since it presented the South as a successful and cultured society.

There is a small house in Atlanta near 10th St and Peachtree that is surrounded by many-storied office towers.  It is the rooming house that Margaret Mitchell lived in when she wrote Gone With the Wind.  Many years ago, developers tried to tear it down because it sat on prime Midtown real estate.  But the local Democrat politicians intervened and named it a historical site.

It would be funny as all get out to see them tear it down now.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

  @edpc I didn't watch the Original Video.
Paradoxically, the US Army as invaders of a sovereign, but belligerent, Country rips their statues down, that was my contradiction and IMHO, the argument can be passionately expressed on all ends of the spectrum.

I am still of the firm belief that invading Afghanistan and Iraq was the 'right thing' to do, but just as Vietnam (Domino Effect), it's the politicians that screwed it all up, later, with their Nation Building, that shit went out with Marshall and Macarthur.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

An anarchist shot one of our presidents, McKinley, an anarchist shot the Archduke in Sarajevo and that was the act many say started World War I.

In Chicago, there were Communist riots around 1920, that movie on Hoover with DiCaprio touches on this.

This right now that is going on, reminds me of the above.

I don't see the issue.

Then again, I didn't see the issue when Russian toppled their Lenin and Stalin statues after the fall of the Soviet Union.

That wasn't erasing history any more than this is.

That is not a protest.

It is a act of violence against the state.

Those responsible should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

I volunteer to serve on the jury.

How does this relate to the fall of the Soviet Union when there has been no regime change here? Were these vandals throwing off oppression and dictatorial rule?

Then by all means lets destroy any other historical artifact before the Civil War, as we were a slave nation. Let's get rid of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, because they were written when there were slaves in the United States.

Heck let's get rid of everything before the Civil Rights Act in '65, because blacks didn't have civil rights till then.

The Republic is lost.

Welp, I think it was really terrible. And I'm no fan of the confederacy.

They should just rebuild with a taller statue.

Problem is you can't enforce your line in the sand, and the same logic being applied to taking these statues down can be used for anything prior to 1965. You seem to be blind to the opportunistic slippery slope. Willfully maybe.

Your logic of comparing the Soviet Union to the Confederacy is the same kind of flimsy logic the Left uses. Maybe that's all you need.

The Republic is lost.

Loan Tran is one of the organizers; she must be the Asian-looking woman in the picture from the report in the original post. They apparently know of one person. I hope she is fully prosecuted by the law, prosecuted and all of these individuals should have to pay any costs.

That sounds like a Vietnamese name though, I don't know for certain.

Some thanks to this country.

I assume that is her in front there.  http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/346557-protesters-topple-confederate-statue-in-north-carolina

Though, 90% or more of the Asians I've known have been cool, I think bigotry occurs with all people.

Not trying to jack the thread but the @edpc comment brought up a rather interesting paradox (for me anyway).

I spoke out against it at the time.

No, fairly attractive, middle aged Vietnamese female coworker at the Post Office.
I doubt she'd drive 1500 miles to VirginiaNorth Carolina to tear down a statue, but you never know.

Talibanning of History continues.

Yup.   IMO,  tear down all the statues of the Confederate politicians, but leave alone the ones honoring soldiers.   Soldiers deserve to be memorialized no matter how lost the cause; it's the politicians that send them fight and die.

Let's see them remove this one.........
They'll demand its removal, and if the politicians refuse to cave on that point, the fascists will use bombs. Reminds me of the French Revolution in some ways. Don't be surprised to see churches destroyed.   **nononono*

The left will not stop until it attempts to destroy Robert E. Lee's homestead in Arlington, Va.  It may be tough for them, as it is also Arlington National Cemetary.
