Quote
Japan is preparing to send several warships to join a US aircraft carrier strike group heading for the Korean peninsula, in a show of force designed to deter North Korea from conducting further missile and nuclear tests.

Citing two well-placed sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, Reuters and the Kyodo news agency said several destroyers from Japan’s maritime self-defence forces would join the USS Carl Vinson and its battle group as it enters the East China Sea......

I don't know how South Korea is going to feel about this, given past history

The Japanese Kongo class is Aegis equipped and armed with the SM-3 ABM.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

SK and Japan have been military allies and train together often over the past decade.

I hope they remember that NK has those supersonic torpedoes.    They sank that one South Korean ship a few years ago.

The Japanese Navy has a long history.  Damn near beat us in WWII.

I suspect China is not happy with the Japanese rearmament happening due to NK.

I'm sure Japan, SK, and the US have all been working on countermeasures since then too.

Intuitively, all of this and I mean North Korea, looks real bad and can one imagine how much all of this is costing? It seems like something is going to happen, someone will blink.  That's my prediction. This situation feels different than the past. Maybe I am just in-tuned to it more this time.

But I hope and pray nothing happens.

Seems to me the butter ball punk has painted himself into a corner.  Now that all diplomatic options have effectively been nailed shut, anything short of some form of conflict will only enhance his stature of foolery.

Every POTUS in memory has blinked while dealing with NK.  We are in uncharted waters.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

You're thinking of the Russian Shkval variant, but what sank the Cheonan was a NK CHT-02D torpedo.  It had a more powerful warhead using RDX, instead of TNT.  It didn't directly hit the ship, but exploded underneath and broke the ship in two.

The Guam missiles would pass over Japanese territory. Japan has claimed the right to shoot them down.

Any nations having missiles fired by a foreign entity has that right.

I want to be as giddy as Bernard Shaw when the rockets red glare made CNN a real network...
