In celebration of Glen's birthday, I enjoyed some videos that paid tribute to his talent.

Can You Play this Riff? (Guitar Pilgrim)

British guitarist attempts to play Glen Campbell's lead guitar lines! Ouch! (Wings of Pegasus)

OMG. Glen Campbell is at it AGAIN! Now he’s MELTING FACES with Carl Jackson! (Wings of Pegasus)

@deb Here are a couple of Fil's breakdowns if you're ever in the mood.

Thank you!
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure,
The saints' and angels' song!

This is my favorite version of Galveston. It’s haunting when slowed down played as a ballad.

@deb

Yep! Glen did have his own way of interpreting a song, didn't he. Have you ever heard Allen Toussaint's "Southern Nights"? It's nothing like Glen's! But Toussaint didn't seem to mind that much since he pocketed large sums of money as a result of Glen's version.

Here's Toussaint's version followed by my favorite video of Glen's version*:

*Glen's version also had the benefit of that amazing lick by Jerry Reed. Glen said it took him a week to learn it!
