A slight disagreement with the writer of this article, the proposed new HBO series "Confederate" isn't being made to glorify slavery. The liberals wanting to make the series actually believe they'll promote some sort of racial understanding and sympathy for black Americans.
The premise is ludicrous, (there's no chance slavery would survive into the 20th century), but the lib creators certainly aren't attempting to paint slavery as good.
As far as Civil War history, I've never seen or am least not aware of a non-documentary movie or series that entailed the entire sweep of the war. Certainly, a movie or series made about the last year of the war would seem to be possible.
But it seems most current filmmakers are more concerned about making movies about aliens, zombies, time travel, and SJW themes rather than historical events.
