True enough @Oceander.  What's driving jobs is the confidence factor.  Businesses believed the President would sign the repeal of Obamacare (true) and that the Republican congress would fulfill their promise to do so (false).

The inaction of the Republican congress will now throw into doubt tax relief for American businesses.

The ramifications of this will ripple through the economy and a lot of Americans are going to be hurt.

Anger should be directed at three Republican Senators.

@TomSea

Anger should be directed at the President,  for piss-poor leadership.   What major legislative initiative hasn't been driven down the stretch by Presidential leadership?

It's a quiet Saturday morning, I'm listening to Masabumi Kikuchi, and reading Noonan's column.   I think that in the months to come conservatives will be seen as divided among those who've read Peggy's column and those who haven't.    Noonan - who more than any other mainstream conservative columnist understood the concerns of Trump supporters about the direction of the country and its culture - zeros in at why the fish stinks from the head.

There's no better political writer in America today than Peggy Noonan.  There's no better source of great conservative commentary than the Wall Street Journal.

The WSJ is the one organ that any self-described conservative should be willing to pay for.  I get mine delivered to my doorstep each morning.   Do yourself a favor, folks, and remove the paywall so you can dig the WSJ's style.   It's the voice of conservative reason.

As for Peggy Noonan,  she's got integrity in buckets.   If folks like her would work for the Administration (as she did for Reagan), a new day would dawn.   WHY OH WHY IS TRUMP BLOWING IT?

She endorsed 0bama in 2008. That alone disqualifies her as a conservative. I never pay attention to anything she has written since then.

1. Exit polls show otherwise, i.e. that conservatives did vote for Trump.

2. However if as you say conservatives did not vote for him, then there are not enough of those type of conservatives to matter in a national presidential election.

87% of evangelicals voted for Donald Trump.

Does anyone really think evangelicals were voting for sin? Or Evil? Or Insanity? Or Vulgarity? Or Greed? – all favorite BS memes used by Democrats, the academic left, the media, and misdirected Republicans and conservatives, just to tarnish Trump, to do as much damage as possible to his reputation and his political success (you all know who you are).

Instead, evangelicals voted for Obamacare repeal, greater safety and security in the age of Islamic terrorism, fewer bureaucratic regulations and smaller government, lower taxes and a better economic future that can offer good jobs to struggling Americans.

87% of evangelicals voted for Donald Trump.

So? 100% of the Israelites voted for a Covenant with God as Sovereign and ended up demanding a king rule them.

Excuse you...

Trump does as much damage as possible to his own reputation and his political success often on Twitter, he doesn't need any help from us.  Blaming US for your Clown Buffoon running a Reality TV Show circus is what Leftists do instead of taking ownership of a disaster they-themselves create.

Instead, evangelicals voted for Obamacare repeal, greater safety and security in the age of Islamic terrorism, fewer bureaucratic regulations and smaller government, lower taxes and a better economic future that can offer good jobs to struggling Americans.

They voted for a man they thought was God's anointed, who was going to give them all those things and make them happen.  As if he was their 'Deliverer' and King who could provide it all at command.

And they got jack and will continue to get jack from this man they were conned or wrongly assumed was going to save them.

He’s not strong and self-controlled, not cool and tough, not low-key and determined; he’s whiny, weepy and self-pitying. He throws himself, sobbing, on the body politic. He’s a drama queen.

I keep thinking there is a method to his madness, but then the chaos just gets worse and worse (the latest Scaramucci tirade, for example), so I just don't know.  Trump does sell a lot of ads on cable TV, and I wouldn't be surprised if he serves two terms just because a slim majority of both his detractors and admirers would hate to see him go.  A lot of people love to hate, evidenced by the ratings at MSNBC, and what would they have without Trump?

We have transitioned from the age of audacity to the age of absurdity.  What might follow the age of absurdity scares the piss out of me, but oh well.  We have already been bankrupted by several generations of corrupt politicians, so who the hell cares?

@massadvj

With all respect to you, it sort of amazes me that people are still waiting for Trump to change, for his behavior to improve.  It won't.  The chaos of his administration was easily predictable by the chaos of his campaign.  It's just who he is.

I had quit subscribing to the WSJ  quite a few years ago, when they stopped being conservative and more "pragmatic".
I still read National Review.

My eyes were always open when it came to Trump, but I voted for him anyway.  In spite of everything, I can't in all honesty say I'd prefer that Hillary was president.

Fair enough.  I just can't relate to the hope that he's going to undergo a miraculous change.

I've subscribed to the WSJ for years;  it's simply THE essential daily read for a conservative.   I had let my NR subscription lapse,  but re-upped as a show of solidarity after the "Never Trump" issue.  And today,  I'm pretty much where NR is -  cautiously supportive of the President,  but deeply suspicious of his temperament and inability to listen to counsel.

Conservative Woman Publicly Humiliates Trump

By Rod Dreher • July 27, 2017, 11:01 PM

I don’t know that I have ever read a more devastating takedown of a president than this one by Peggy Noonan, of Donald Trump. She annihilates him, as only a woman could....

That's the point at which I stopped reading.  You expect female feminists who preach equality when it suits them, and superiority when it doesn't, to write that kind of drivel.  At least you can say they're looking out for their own interests.  But when a man writes something like that, there just isn't any excuse.

I sentence him to two nut punches and kick in the tokas.

This mindset condemns us to a presidential election cycle that will feature a full-blown Socialist with an R after their name versus an overt America-hating Marxist who is open about their hate for the country.

And people will be glad the full blown Socialist is in office rather than the Marxist.

No wonder the Republic is gone.
