Palestinians Oppose Israeli Metal Detectors at the Temple Mount
When it comes to Islamic justice, prayers are not enough.

Last Friday, three Arabs killed two Israeli police officers who were guarding an entrance to Jerusalem’s holy compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary. The police officers were shot with arms that had evidently been smuggled into the compound and stashed there. This latest attack was another in an unending series of terrorist murders of Israelis, but this time the attack took place at Old Jerusalem’s sacred site itself. It also may have been orchestrated by a Hezbollah-run cell, acting on orders from Iran, according to a Debkafile report based on its intelligence and counterterrorism sources.

Abbas suspends security coordination with Israel
Israel National News, Jul 23, 2017

JTA - Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas canceled scheduled security coordination meetings between Israeli and Palestinian officials.

The meetings were cancelled on Sunday, two days after Abbas announced that PA leaders have frozen all contact with Israel over newly installed security measures at the Temple Mount.

It is the first time that security cooperation has been halted since Abbas was elected leader of the PA nearly a decade ago, according to Israeli reports.

Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman told Ynet that Israel can manage without Palestinian security cooperation, but that the Palestinians will suffer without it.

“We’ve managed for many years without security cooperation, we’ll manage now as well,” Liberman said. “It’s not like the security coordination is an Israeli need. It’s a Palestinian need first and foremost. If they want it, they’ll continue, if not they won’t.”

Liberman also railed against Abbas for not condemning the terror attack by a Palestinian Arab on Friday night that killed three members of the same family as they sat at their Shabbat table.

Israel installs security cameras as Jerusalem tensions build
CNN, Jul 23, 2017,  Oren Liebermann and Ian Lee

Jerusalem (CNN) — Israel has installed security cameras near the entrance to one of the holiest sites in Jerusalem as tensions between Israelis and Palestinians edge higher following a violent week.

The security cameras are in addition to metal detectors placed last week at the Lion's Gate entrance to the site, known as the Temple Mount to Jews and the Noble Sanctuary to Muslims.

The metal detectors -- seen by Palestinians and Arab countries as an attempt by Israel to unilaterally exert control over the holy site -- triggered widespread protests across Jerusalem and the West Bank. The added installation of security cameras is liable to spark more protests.

Attack at Israel embassy in Jordan's capital Amman
BBC News, Jul 23, 2017

An attack has taken place at the Israeli embassy in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with casualties reported.

A BBC reporter at the scene says the immediate vicinity has been locked down but authorities have not released details.

Media reports citing security sources say one person is dead and one injured. The BBC has not be able to verify this.

Israeli authorities are believed to be evacuating embassy staff.

The heavily protected embassy is located in the Rabiyeh neighbourhood, an affluent part of Amman.

On Friday, thousands of Jordanians protested in Amman against Israel over the installation of metal detectors at a site sacred to both Muslims and Jews in Jerusalem.

Jordan is the custodian of Muslim religious sites in the city.
