Senate healthcare bill includes key provision for Alaska

By Nathaniel Weixel - 07/13/17 05:59 PM EDT

The home state of a key undecided senator could receive hundreds of millions of dollars under an updated Senate GOP bill to repeal ObamaCare.

Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) has withheld her support for the Senate’s Better Care Reconciliation Act, citing concerns over Medicaid cuts, Planned Parenthood funding and insurance affordability.

But a new provision could funnel more than $100 billion to her state to help reduce the cost of insurance premiums.

It's pretty sad when you have to "payoff" a senator in order for them to fulfill a promise they've been making for 7 years. I don't care if this particular senator made the promise or not. Repeal of obamacare has been the party line since the Tea Party revolution gave the Pubs a majority in the House.

And even then, they still aren't fulfilling the promise.

It's the Kodiak Kickback, the Polar bear Payoff.

This is how you deal with the moderates - you buy 'em off.

Am I supposed to feel good about a state getting a disproportionate amount of money that is going to cost me extra?

Well now.

At least we know where some of that 100 BILLION dollars the Republican Party will funnel to her state will go.

Or, put this way: the GOP would rather pay to kill unborn babies with your tax dollars and rebrand ObamaCare as their own than to repeal the damned thing as they promised they would do "root and branch".

Socialistic despotism.

It's not just the Democrats pushing for it anymore.

That is precisely what happens when despots become self aware and realize they are untouchable.

While it's never been a secret that shit like this happens, the fact that they are now so open about it simply disgusts me.

Republicans are proving they are no better than Democrats.

They easily pass around us taxpayer's money.

We now know why Obamacare will not be repealed.

Why would people like Murkowski do the right thing and repeal when she can rake in some money by slowing things down?

This is sausage making.

This an interesting article. I could swear that I read that Alaska had imposed some kind of tax so they could have single payer provided by the state.

I must have misunderstood.
