If there’s one thing we know about the Trump administration, besides the Russian collusion clown show that simply will not pack up and go, it’s that it’s leaking like a busted pipe. Seriously, we got more leaks than the Iraqi Navy with this White House. Some of it is staff-related, but the more damning are disclosures of classified information, which are not media speculation; it’s a fact.

In February, Glenn Greenwald discussed these leaks by the so-called Deep State, a collection of career government employees, whose actions are just as troubling as those committed by President Trump. I don’t necessarily agree that Trump is dangerous, but Greenwald is not a conservative. He co-edits a site called The Intercept, which is a sort of safe drop-off zone for leakers. At the same time, Greenwald knows that there’s a difference between leaking information that exposes government behaving badly, and leaks that are meant to undercut a governing administration because some people don’t like how the 2016 election turned out.

We're long past the point of having a legitimate federal government.  It has already wholly delegitimized itself, and on numerous occasions declared a defacto state of contempt and war upon us.   We the people have simply grown accustomed to tyranny because we have deemed it sufferable.

That the oligarchy is destroying an administration that they did not hand-select to lead the nation into Statism, is to be expected when the foundations were dug up and cast out with only a manipulated shell game used to placate the masses into believing they actually have a role and hand in deciding our fate and future.

That and the Dedicated Left have decided that all power belongs only to them, and in the last few decades they have seeded the entire Beast.  Presidents come and go - but K street and the lobbyists with the Alphabets and their masters - are forever.

That, and a majority of this people have decided to accept and adopt Socialism in it's varying degrees, because the promise of free shit from those who have more than they do is a stroking of the basest of human natures, and the millions upon millions of third world squatters who are exempt from assimilating into an American culture which has been declared an evil.

A Welfare State with open borders was the surest and quickest way to subjugate Capitalism for Socialism by Cloward-Pivening it to ruin.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

It seems classified information has been a hot button topic for several years now and if we've learned anything we've learned it's nothing like we thought it was.

For one thing we've learned it's all about intent.  Accidentally leaking classified information by the boatload is frowned upon, but not automatically a crime if it was determined to be an accident.  We've also learned that if it's not stamped with big bold letters as classified information it's not necessarily a secret.  And perhaps the most surprising revelation of the past few years is that it depends upon who receives the classified information that determines whether a crime has been committed or not.  Leaking to A is not a crime but leaking to B does constitute a crime.

A guy almost needs a white board to keep up with all the rules but we definitely are getting one heck of an education when it comes to leaking classified information.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
The Cliff's notes are simple enough. If it is a Democrat leaking it or it makes a Republican look bad, it's okay. Otherwise, it's cause for flogging in the media, at the very least.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Looks like Obama holdovers may have had a direct hand.  Trump was an imbecile not to purge the lot of them.

GOP Rep. Names Ben Rhodes As One Source of White House Security Leaks

DeSantis also called on the Trump administration to purge all former Obama administration officials still working in the government, claiming that the holdovers and their allies outside the White House are responsible for an unprecedented series of national security leaks aimed at damaging the Trump administration's national security apparatus.

DeSantis named Ben Rhodes—the former National Security Council official responsible for creating an in-house "echo chamber" meant to mislead reporters and the public about the landmark nuclear deal with Iran—as a primary source of these leaks and urged the House Intelligence Committee to call Rhodes and other former Obama officials to testify publicly about any role they may be playing in spreading classified information to reporters.

:smokin:  Oh, now it makes sense.

A corollary to those rules that pertains to both old headlines and those headlines we see popping up right now - what do you do when offered classified information?  It's akin to a guy approaching you in the alley saying, "Psst, buddy, want to buy a cheap bike out of the back of my van?"

If you tell the guy no thanks, you have no interest in a hot bike then you are in the clear.  But if you go ahead and purchase the hot bike then you've committed a crime too.  More or less the same with classified information.  If you publish the secrets have you committed a crime?

Alright, I know, already asked and answered.  Depends upon who's publishing the secrets and who the secrets damage.

Yeah, I had a thread on DeSantis naming Rhodes. People like Rhodes treat the nation as their play toy.

Purging the malefactors can't be that easy. He can't fire everyone and firing everyone would be the only way to know he'd gotten all the bad eggs.
