Ted Cruz: if GOP can’t pass health care bill, then we need CLEAN REPEAL

    Jul. 9, 2017 6:43 pm by SooperMexican

Republicans are looking at the prospect of failure of the GOP health care bill in the Senate, and Ted Cruz for one says if that happens, they need to seek a clean repeal.

Watch below:

Sen. Cruz on (de)Face the Nation at LINK

From the Washington Examiner:
Quote
Speaking Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Cruz said the GOP’s goal should be to see premiums go down with their new legislation, but if they can’t agree on how to do that, they should change their focus to solely repealing Obamacare.

“If we can’t get this done right now, I agree with the president, then let’s honor the promise on repeal,” Cruz said.

He said a repeal would take effect “a year or two years from now” and in that time, Republicans would debate new healthcare legislation.

Sen. McCain also has a Video at the LINK (for those of us that can't get enough of THAT guy~corbe)

That is NOT what the Republican Party promised Mr. Cruz.

They promised REPEAL "Root and Branch" - NOT a possible "clean repeal" IF their appropriation of ObamaCare as their own cannot pass the legislature.

Your Boss has already indicated he is going to work with Democrats to pass some kind of rescue of ObamaCare rather than work with Conservatives to do what he promised.

We always knew there was gonna be a 1~2 year off-ramp, to lessen political damage to the GOP in 2018, but like Ryan's House before (HFC signed off just to get it out of their hair, imho) the Senate is also unable to pass a clean repeal.
I believe it's got just as much to do with Reince and this Administrations bungling, the Lobbyist are the icing on the cake.
Both have proved deadly to an already nearly impossible scenario.

  • Cruz 2016- a Constitutional Conservative at last!
They need to repeal it root and branch as promised. They don't need to enact any more healthcare legislation, either. Let the market work. The lobbyists write the legislation to serve their masters. The Congress is utterly venal, corrupt, self-serving, and ineffective.

"Cruz said the GOP’s goal should be to see premiums go down with their new legislation"

I hope that is not his actual position.  The GOP's goal should be to let a free market determine premiums.

Of course, the GOP's goal is, was, and will always be to maximize fundraising, so what "should be" is irrelevant.

I emailed Cruz to demand full repeal and response was he was working to lower premiums. Very disappointed.

Because all of Mordor on the Potomac thinks we're stupid and that all we really want is lower premiums and we will be happy to eat whatever Socialist shit they force on us as 'this or nothing'.

Well, why don't you watch the video.  He's working hard to make a bill palatable enough to pass and get us some immediate relief and it doesn't just include lower premiums.

I think Sen Cruz is trying to avoid the mine field the liberal Pubs and media have put in front of him. His amendment will convert obamacare into the high risk pool that is needed for the 5% who consume 50% or more of the health services. In his amendment everyone who pays taxes will subsized that high risk pool, instead of only the 7-10% self insured. The medicaid expansion will slow down and possibly be reversed because able bodied young people won't sign up for it and those above the poverty line will be able to buy major medical policies.

If the Pubs don't back this reasonable approach they deserve to lose their majority. If Mcconnell isn't bluffing about working with the Rats then they deserve to lose their majority. The Pubs have been given everything they need to fulfill their promises. Now it's time for them to do so.

Cruz knows he's one senator. He's working on two tracks. One is, if there are enough votes to pass the bill, make it as good as possible.

There is a high chance of of this bill not passing though. It's a good move to call for repeal if it doesn't pass.

I am thinking that if they fail to get the votes then they will be forced to appeal or continue on with Obama death.
