Does the President and First Lady travel with their own security team??  This is terrible...she is trapped and they need to get her the heck out of there.  I see this as a direct attack.

Melania Trump blocked by G-20 protesters from leaving German guest house

First Lady Melania Trump has been barred from leaving her temporary residence in Hamburg, Germany, due to G-20 protesters.

Trump is staying at a guest house that belongs to the Hamburg Senate while her husband President Donald Trump, attends the G-20 summit. Mrs. Trump was slated to join the spouses of other world leaders at an international summit on Friday but anti-globalization protesters are keeping the first lady from leaving.

“We have no security clearance from the police to leave the guesthouse,” Trump’s spokeswoman for the German press agency told Focus, a German news agency.

The spouses normally get together while leaders are in meetings during international summits. Friday's program included a boat ride, lunch and a tour of a climate control center..........

She's not trapped. She is safe. That is why she is where she is. If she set out and about with the anarchists, she would be in danger.

I hate to say this, but I would not be the least bit surprised if the German government was letting that happen deliberately as an anti-Trump statement.

Oh the irony of Trump snuggling up to the anti globalists only to become their target.

I had thought of that as well, Merkel obviously doesn't have things under control.

Unable to leave and join the rest of the ladies because of violent protests and safety issues, to me is being trapped; she is unable to move about freely at her will. She is in a foreign country with all hell breaking loose around her and she has to stay put.  If she can't get out, will they be able to get President Trump back to her??  Eventually I'm sure, but this is ridiculous.

The Trumps had better be careful what they eat while there.  Wasn't George and Laura Bush poisoned (or attempted, anyway) at a G20 summit?

Yup.

Part of why this happened is that Trump doesn't have staff in place, even after all these months, so they didn't get arrangements made properly.  Rooms in hotels where other delegates were staying were all booked, so they aren't staying in the Four Seasons, etc.  They got stuck in the Senate guest house, separate from their own staff (who is in the  US Consulate General.

Maybe after this debacle, Trump will get busy on filling positions and stop being so disorganized.  These incidents are minor but embarrassing.

??? Many of the positions have been blocked by the DEMS.  Also, shouldn't adequate arrangements have been made by the hosting country?  Take a look at Poland ... they laid down the red carpet for the Trump's and I'm sure their accommodations were very pleasing.  Sorry, I see this as in part fault of Merkel and cronies!

President Trump Apparently Couldn't Find A Hotel To Book For The G20 Summit
He is one of the most powerful people in the world. He is coming to the meeting of 20 powerful countries. And he has a problem: no hotel room for the G20.

White House officials apparently waited too long to book accommodations for President Trump, leaving him without a hotel in Hamburg, Germany, as world leaders converge for the G20 summit.

Organizers announced the scheduled summit in February 2016, which requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, their sizable staffs, and security details.

The Hamburger Abendblatt, a local news outlet, reported that the US government wanted to accommodate Trump in the Four Seasons, but it was already booked. In fact, it turns out that every luxury hotel in Hamburg was reportedly booked by the time the Americans called, leaving Trump, who is associated with an empire of hotel properties, scrambling for a place to stay.

Several weeks ago there were even rumors Trump might have to sleep in Berlin and have to fly to Hamburg via helicopter.

Isn't Buzzfeed the outlet that vomited up the completely unverified contents of that Russian "dossier"?

I have significant doubts about the picture being painted by that article.  It conveniently omits exactly when such accommodations are generally booked, and if the Trump Administration was outside that window or not.  And if the summit was scheduled last February, it is entirely possible that protocol is for the prior Administration to have booked accommodations to prevent the new President from not having a place to stay.

In short, I would not be the least bit surprised if the reason Trump could not book a hotel is because of deliberate sandbagging/sabotage by some combination of the Obama Administration, holdovers from that Administration within the current Administration, aand the German government itself.

The Germans could have gotten her out of there safely if they had really wanted to.  This is Merkel making a bush-league power play that I'm sure will give her some temporary emotional satisfaction.

She/they had better be careful.  Trump doesn't forget (ever) when he is slighted.  And now he actually has the power (military might) to exact revenge ....besides just being filthy rich.

It would be quite funny if Trump actually commented on it, because it could be embarrassing as hell for the Germans.  "I felt bad for Melania because she was really looking forward to this visit.  But if the host country either can't or won't provide security, there's not much we can do.  I can only promise that the spouses of foreign leaders who come to the United States will be able to leave their residence and participate in scheduled events."

These things are planned years in advance. We already knew where the 2018 and 2019 ones are being held for some time now.

According to Laura Bush's book she believes that she, her husband and some of their staff were poisoned at the G8 summit.

Wow, if only he would say something like that....lol.  The only problem is.... the left is incapable of being embarrassed by anything they do.... ever.

Yeah, I remember reading something about that a few years back.  Maybe they should resurrect the olde tradition of having "tasters" for every meal...?

Right.  I have a hard time believing that an Administration that just took office in January has the sole responsibility for accommodations at the Summit, and that host governments don't normally help out.

But to be honest, it is kind of liberating to know that our time of playing kindergarten teacher to Europe is starting to end.

She has done a terrible job as chancellor.  This isn't the first time Germany has been on fire recently; citizens have protested the influx of Muslim refugees that are wreaking havoc on their country. She has allowed Germany to be transformed.  If this is a power play on her part, it has already backfired.  100's of German police have been injured.

I would wager you have the problem pretty much figured out in the last paragraph.
If that is the case, the offending 'incompetents' should be replaced for not doing their jobs. Don't make it political, even if they did, because that would give them cause to complain it was strictly a partisan firing.
