Yup.

Part of why this happened is that Trump doesn't have staff in place, even after all these months, so they didn't get arrangements made properly.  Rooms in hotels where other delegates were staying were all booked, so they aren't staying in the Four Seasons, etc.  They got stuck in the Senate guest house, separate from their own staff (who is in the  US Consulate General.

Maybe after this debacle, Trump will get busy on filling positions and stop being so disorganized.  These incidents are minor but embarrassing.

So, it's Trump's fault Melania is trapped.  All righty then.

President Trump Apparently Couldn't Find A Hotel To Book For The G20 Summit
He is one of the most powerful people in the world. He is coming to the meeting of 20 powerful countries. And he has a problem: no hotel room for the G20.
Posted on July 5, 2017, at 8:44 p.m.  Marcus Engert

White House officials apparently waited too long to book accommodations for President Trump, leaving him without a hotel in Hamburg, Germany, as world leaders converge for the G20 summit.

Organizers announced the scheduled summit in February 2016, which requires 9,000 hotel rooms to accommodate world leaders, their sizable staffs, and security details.

The Hamburger Abendblatt, a local news outlet, reported that the US government wanted to accommodate Trump in the Four Seasons, but it was already booked. In fact, it turns out that every luxury hotel in Hamburg was reportedly booked by the time the Americans called, leaving Trump, who is associated with an empire of hotel properties, scrambling for a place to stay.

Several weeks ago there were even rumors Trump might have to sleep in Berlin and have to fly to Hamburg via helicopter.

...

[Excerpt.   Read more here.]

You can find all the stupid quotes you want.  The fact is that Germany should have insured adequate accommodations for the leader of the Free World whether you like him or not.

This is shameful.

Maybe Chuck Schumer would volunteer to be a food taster ???

Or Pelosi.  Oh, now wouldn't that be nice.   Make someone your official taster that the left doesn't want to kill...lolol.

Not so much, just another possible coven lurking in the administration that may need some housekeeping and sunshine.

It would be quite funny if Trump actually commented on it, because it could be embarrassing as hell for the Germans.  "I felt bad for Melania because she was really looking forward to this visit.  But if the host country either can't or won't provide security, there's not much we can do.  I can only promise that the spouses of foreign leaders who come to the United States will be able to leave their residence and participate in scheduled events."

You should be writing Trump's tweets.  That's a great one.

Oh, you could bet money that he'll be tweeting about it as soon as he returns...lol.  That's a given and a constant in the universe (unfortunately).

He will be ... and I can't actually blame him because the MSM has made Fake News a new phrase accepted by everybody.

The problem is, Trump needs the Major to write his tweets and he writes them himself.

Sure, if he'd get off Twitter once in a while.

Come on.  You and Suppressed are trying frantically to make this Trump's fault.  It is not his fault.

What are you expecting?  That the secret service detail is going to come out with guns blazing?  Or using armored vehicles to push through masses of soft human bodies?

If she is "stuck" in the house it's because, in the considered judgment of her security professionals, that is safer than trying to force her way out.

It's an interesting rhetorical situation, one I'm sure will be used to take jabs at Germany, but she isn't trapped or in grave danger.

If she cannot safely leave her house, she is trapped.  The reasons why may be valid, but she is still trapped if she can't get out.  Nothing rhetorical about that.

As I speculated earlier in this thread, it turns out that the hotel rooms were all booked before the election, and it was the Obama Administration that was supposed to have reserved them.

What is annoying about this is how people so delightedly jumped on this story initially in the hope that it would be embarrassing to the Trump Administration.  No desire to dig deeper or ask any questions about why or how it happened.  It was an opportunity to slam Trump, so why not?

All part of the Obama legacy. If that staff is currently staff (heldover), there is a solid reason for them to not be. The Clintons replaced the travel office staff for a lot less.

It being Obama's fault figures.... but....

shouldn't somebody in Trump's admin have followed up and made shock-sure that they had a place to stay?  Come on!

They did have a place to stay -- it's where they're staying right now.  The luxury hotels were all booked before the election, so it's not a question of a lack of "follow-up" by the Trump Administration.  There were simply no rooms available, period.  They never had a chance.

I suspect that the rooms actually were booked by the Obama Administration, but deliberately cancelled after the election.  Nothing Trump could do about that, and certainly not something anyone in their right might would have though would happen.  In any case, this simply isn't their fault.

The rooms were all booked even before the election.  So, it's one of two things -- either the Obama Administration never bothered to book the rooms last year when everyone else did, or they did book the rooms, but cancelled them in early November as soon as Trump won just to screw with him.

My guess is that the political hacks responsible for whichever it was are long gone.  Probably congratulating themselves.

The rooms were booked since February 2016.  The President's only other option was to stay in his hotel ... and he nixed that.

Sorry @XenaLee ... this is not the fault of the Trump administration.

Rhetorical?   Do you even understand the meaning of that word.

This is the first time I've ever heard of a 1st lady of any country being in such a situation.     If she cannot leave safely she is in danger.   There could easily be a suicide bomber or two in such a crowd

Now I'm wondering if this whole story is a fake.  Was she ever even trapped or in a position where it was not safe for her to leave.

It's a sad, but true, commentary on the media in this day of the media/Trump feud that we cannot be sure a story was true until the next day after it's been looked into and vetted.

I doubt it was fake.  Too many news crews covering the protests.  Too many news stories stating the same thing.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Simple rule of thumb:  If the story is favorable to Trump, it's true.  If it's not favorable, it's fake.

Trump does have problems with the people around him.  All I'm saying is if he would spend the time taking care of those problems instead of engaging in Twitter pissing matches all the time, he might actually get things done and things would run more smoothly.

Considering the ill-will Trump's election has caused among the Euro weinies.... and considering the obvious ill-will among Obama's regime, not to mention their blatant ineptness....

somebody in Trump's staff should have anticipated AND made a backup plan.  (duh)
