Ted Cruz: CNN May Have Broken Georgia Law

According to Senator Ted Cruz, CNN’s threats to dox the Reddit user who created the Trump wrestling CNN video could be a violation of Georgia law.

CNN discovered the identity of the Reddit user who made the video and essentially threatened to reveal his identity if he continued to post unsavory content.

Cruz said if CNN tracked down the Reddit user through his IP address and then used that information to threaten him, they could be in violation of a Georgia law.

You cannot "COEXIST" with people who want to kill you.
If they kill their own with no conscience, there is nothing to stop them from killing you.
Rational fear and anger at vicious murderous Islamic terrorists is the same as irrational antisemitism, according to the Leftists.

Theft by extortion?  What theft?

Isn't there a law against cyber-bullying somewhere?

The act of Doxxing itself is also illegal in many places. Part of cyberbullying laws.

All of these laws go double if the poster really is 15, and underage. Lawsuit? It's a possibility.

If CNN broke the law, then virtually every other network does so as a regular matter of policy. The release I signed with FOX news also "warned" that my identity may or may not be kept confidential depending on relevance to the story.

Did this guy sign a release?

Why did Fox ask you to sign a release?   Perhaps so they would be legal?

Do you think this guy signed a release before they broke this story?

No but that's also not unusual. If it were the case, the media would never be able to report anything without prior approval of the subject.

Besides, the guy apologized before he ever had contact with CNN.

Theft of future earning, I believe.

Oh....so if the kid/guy/whatever is publicly slandered, demonized or outted enough by CNN, that would constitute damages (they're calling it theft).

Makes sense.  Got it.  Thanks!

I don't see any reason why the responsible persons at CNN shouldn't be prosecuted.
OTOH,
I don't see any person in the state of Georgia pursuing charges against CNN personnel.

One small step for CNN. One giant leap for a tool of intrusive government.

Remember when Orange Glorious gave out Lindsey Graham's personal phone number on national television and suggested that people give him a call?

Actual doxxing.

Ah good times.

Totally steering a bit off topic, but here are the basics on a release.  If you are not actually part of the story, a release is only needed if your likeness or quote is used directly in marketing or promotional material. That is even very gray and fuzzy depending on the circumstances of recording and how it is used. For man on the street type interviews, they arent required but many times, they get them just to be safe (CYA).

If, however, you are the story or part of the story, a release isn't needed.

It comes down to if they use you as marketing or news.

The whole thing is a set up lie anyway. CNN didn't track the guy down, he called CNN after he apologized. And inexplicably alt right scum like Cernovich and probisec and other alt right notables started hammering away with the #CNNBlackmail tag to make it trend.

The sad fact is that people on the "right" are being herded by neo alinskyites the same way black lives matter are being herded by their alinskyite puppetmasters.

What dog do you have in this hunt?  Why the disinformation campaign?  CNN already admitted that they did it.

CNN has now, once again become the story.  And the story is eating its lunch!

How low can they go.  Ted "The Mouth of the South" Turner must be so proud of his baby.
