Trump is the President. Trump will be the President for the foreseeable future. And all the Hate in the world will not change that. I can't imagine what these haters think they are accomplishing. It is a mystery to me?

I've thought about that a considerable amount because I was NT for a short time.   I hated Obama and think he is a traitor.

Trump is a crass, spoiled kid who has never had to pay for his mistakes.   Trump is not a traitor and has done some pretty good things since coming into office.  If Cruz had done these very same things people on the right would be cheering.

IMO if you approach Trump the right way he will change his position. He is the best of the two bad alternatives and can hopefully help pull us back from the abyss.

However he can't do it alone and sitting on the sidelines cheering for him to fail is only hurting the country, which those people claim they love.

Excellent point.

The problem is that there are too many conservatives who take a pseudo-apocalyptic view of politics -- that if everything false apart, some wonderful conservative leader and new conservative majority will emerge magically from the ashes.  So, they're perfectly fine with tearing down Trump and anyone else insufficiently pure because they are convinced this preferred alternative will appear.

I've learned it is impossible to reason with such people.

If this grand experiment fails it will not be replaced with a Constitutional Republic.  Whats left will probably either need to learn Chinese, Spanish or Farsi depending on their location.

Again, expounding on my thesis of irrational hate for the sake of hate and nothing more, the question is, 'What is the goal?' Even if Trump loses his office, 'So what?' Then we have Pence, who agrees with almost all of Trump's policies and Trump's staffing choices. So what would change?

That's what I mean when I say there is no purpose or direction to their hate. There is no 'plan', and there is no better option. I can't figure out what they want, or expect to happen? That is what I mean when I say it is mindless hate. It really is. It is purposeless hate with no clear goal.

And again, I feel sorry for them, but at the same time I am glad I do not have to live like them. It must be terrible to wake up every morning and to have to face another day. Sad.

Leaving aside for a moment the corporate media giant threatening to crush a private citizen posting to the internet, haven't the cyber-scriveners at CNN heard of the Streisand effect?  Now they deservedly have created a whole genre of Trump-beating-CNN video memes, and the generally useless conspiracy-mongers at Infowars have finally done something useful: offering a $20,000 prize for the best to make sure the genre grows rapidly.

I've ceased trying to understand it.  Its irrational and destructive.   I've ceased feeling sorry for them as they are making life more difficult for those around them.  Worse yet they are making it even more difficult to fix the things that need fixing.  They are the cement block around the feet of conservatives trying to swim.

I agree.  The problem is that the pseudo-apocalyptic conservatives don't agree.  To them, their actions are perfectly rational -- tear down anything that doesn't meet their standards, and eventually, their views will prevail.  So while it is often simply emotion-driven hate, it also is a calculated strategy.  They're completely wrong, but it is a strategy.

Perhaps we could buy them a new calculator?   Honestly I think they are doing a good job of making themselves irrelevant.   I'm going to try and do a better job of ignoring it and focus on the good.

Thank you for that. You have inspired me to reread the book. It would be enjoyable to brush up on a little Rand. Maybe some Vonnegut too. That would be great.

I've been fiddling with an article about the whole myth of Galt's Gulch for quite awhile.  I should probably get around to finishing it.

Judging by the comments by the DT fans, it is clear to see how we have an ignorant lout for a president.
The alt-right thugs have lots of help on their march for the maggot.

The "alt-right" derisive description is usually a term that I witness leftists using mostly to describe anyone on the right that they disagree with politically.  Odd, that.

@catfish1957, I care for conservatives, being one myself, but I also understand what a pit the Treehouse is.  It's run by a conspiracy nut who accused Mark Levin and Ted Cruz of being "Israel firsters" during the campaign.  He was all in on the Pizzagate thing.  The fact that Freepers treat the site as gospel should tell you a lot.

@XenaLee
Its also odd that some of them started comparing Trump to Stalin & the NK dictator at the same time folks on MSNBC and other mainstream media did.

The problem with these supposedly rightie websites is.... the ownership and management changes hands.... regularly.  Changes for the worse, in fact.   Look at how differently Brietbart is being run now.  Hell, Fox News is being run and ruined by the liberal spawn and in-laws of Murdoch.

The same is going on, I suspect, with the Treehouse, although I admit that I have not followed their "history"... at all.   The agenda is to take over anything called conservative and corrupt it from within.  And the agenda is succeeding..... one rightie website/venue at a time.

The left and the media (though I repeat myself) will work together to discredit conservative thought any chance they get.  Websites that delve into wacky conspiracy theories discredit not only themselves, but any conservative who may be sucked in by those theories.  And that ends up discrediting those conservatives as well.

It is not enough to be right.  We have to be right in a manner that makes it difficult to discredit/refute us to the millions of other Americans who are still persuadable on important issues.

I've seen the alt-right described pretty accurately by people like Ben Shapiro, Jonah Goldberg, and John Podhoretz.  They're all Jewish, and they've all received anti-semitic crap from the alt-right.

A couple of incidents stick out in my mind, and they're just what I've happened to see.  One was when an alt-righter tweeted to Shapiro that he and his family, including his days-old infant son, should burn in a gas chamber.  Another was when Milo Yiannopolous tweeted a picture of a black baby to Shapiro after the birth of his child with the sentiment, "Sympathy to Ben for having to watch his baby come out black."

@XenaLee

Well, not really.  Jim Hoft, a nutcase loon, founded Gateway Pundit and still runs it.  Conservative Treehouse hasn't changed hands...at least, I don't think so.  Fox lost all credibility a long time ago, when Ailes told Trump he would do everything he could to get him elected.  He made the place a propaganda outlet.

The problem with calling them "supposedly" conservative is based in a mistake I used to make, which was thinking that people on our side can't be nuts.  They can, and they are, sometimes.
I think aspects of the election proved that without a doubt.

It doesn't help our side to reflexively label all problems with the right as "leftist"....that way the problems never get addressed.

Remember when the "conservative" treehouse editor was caught threatening to out that "filthy Kike" Mark Levin for his ties to the Cruz campaign. (Levin's girlfriend's adult son volunteered for the Cruz campaign)

One thing that I have learned via observation is.... there really is no clearly defined "our side".  There are just varying degrees of "in between" vs. the radical left.  Just sayin....
