  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I didn't understand some of the technical jargon, but it sure sounds like the Military will disregard President Trump's order the first chance they get, and that there is very little chance that Trump could destroy the world in a tantrum, because the military is predisposed to fear him like many Americans...so yes I am very relieved now thank you.

Is it possible the military could install President Pence in some kind of military Junta?  That would solve many problems.
Actually, it would create problems. It would necessitate the trial of the ranking members of the Armed Services on charges of dereliction of duty at the least and mutiny or treason at worst. The UCMJ does not take kindly to such behaviour. The military is not the controlling civil authority in the United States, and military juntas do not end well.
I don't think this President Ryan would do as well as Jack (from Tom Clancy's books).

I'm no fan of The Donald, but there are limits to how crazy even he is.
Trump may be a bit of a hothead, but his whole empire sits in the middle of high priority civilian (commerce) targets. Launch a major strike and he goes from being a billionaire to a refugee in a nice suit, because the bank balances will evaporate with the servers.

Consider this...

That was a meaty reply and I read it all, but in the end it all boils down to faith in the POTUS.  I have none.

I believe he believes he is more important then me by many factors.  I have no faith he will care about me or my family.  I am not sure Trump isn't mentally ill, I am almost certain he is morally ill, but thank you for your reply

Badgering CNN is childish, but a long way from a nuclear first strike option. I am beginning to think he does that crap for amusement.

Starting to look like Trump really IS the ultimate attention ho.  Anything for a headline.

I agree...it is long way from destroying the world in a senseless rage...until it happens...then Trump's eccentric behavior is a dire warning...like John Wayne Gacy being a clown or this sign...

Do you think Comey is an honest player, or a partisan hack?

I don't think he's a partisan hack.   He was pissed off that Trump asked for his loyalty.   The culture of the FBI is that it is not its mission to protect the President.   That tradition goes back years.  Hell,  Hoover kept so much stuff to himself that every President for forty years was afraid to cross him.   Freeh's investigation led indirectly to Clinton's impeachment.   Mueller and Comey defied President Bush on his secret domestic surveillance program in the wake of 9/11.

The FBI director doesn't do loyalty, not to the President any way.   It's a check on a rogue President;  the deal with Bush and the domestic surveillance program shows the FBI considers itself an essential sign-off on certain executive orders.

No, Comey is not a partisan hack.  He is an FBI man.

But is he an honest player?   I don't know, maybe not.   I have no reason to question his personal honesty per se,  but I think he's got a bit of the megalomaniac in him, just like Trump does.    Comey's well aware of his place in history,  and is spinning things with his eye fixed on it.   He leaked private conversations with the President in order to force the naming of a special prosecutor.   He has an agenda,  and folks with agendas are rarely "honest players",  especially if the agenda itself isn't honest.   What I don't know is whether Comey's agenda is honest or not.

Jazzhead, any more attacks on members will result in a well-deserved timeout.

"Well deserved"?  WTF?   Did you notice the gratuitous attack, sir?   And I'm the one who gets dinged?   I am astonished that you capitulate so easily to this member's whining.     Please address this with me via PM.

Projection has always been your strongest suit.  If you didn't project, you'd be nothing at all.

What do you think about what I said about Comey?

Haven't read it yet.  Just woke up to a nice conversation with you about how disgraceful I am so I'm not really likely to sift through material I'm not likely to be live this time of day.

Added:  I was correct.  I think Comey is a political hack who doesn't understand what it means to be an FBI man and stays out of politics.  Fancied himself a King-Maker, and got what he deserved, and comes off as a seeker of revenge.   But of course you think he's the greatest G-Man ever.

Ask a few psychologists.......   From my vantage point I'd say he has more than strong tendencies toward megalomania and classical narcissim. Not that he would be the first world leader in that category.

And hey.....I have been defending his policies.  Still I think he is full whacko.

I disagree. AG Lynch met Bill Clinton and told him she would take care of the email thing. FBI Comey went outside normal procedure, playing investigator AND prosecutor, giving Hillary a pass on jeopardizing national security by careless handling off classified material.

“To the career men & women at DOJ/FBI: your actions and integrity will be unfairly questioned. Be prepared, be strong. Duty. Honor. Country.”

If written by a Republican, it would be hailed as a positive statement.  Since Holder wrote it, it means bring down the government or charge Republicans with crime, or impeach Trump, or......

It is a positive statement no matter who wrote it and does not tell these people to commit crime.

In my opinion, it is a pre-emptive strike to warn lawbreakers that they may be exposed soon and to have their lies ready.

That is fantastic news.  I hope to God those soldiers in the silos are trained to question and refuse the order without hesitation.  In fact they should be tested with random drills to make sure they never...ever...ever obey the President of the United States of America.

I am so relieved to know this.  whew.

Glad you are relieved.  I was just about to hope you never get a wink of sleep.

I agree.  I'm not sure of Trump's motives in making these tweets but, except for a very few... particularly lately when he is very, very mad at Joe and Mika ... I think the tweets probably do him more good than harm.

It's obvious to him that he cannot get his viewpoint out through the hate of the Media as they will distort it in any way possible.  So he tweets.

If a group of Amish people see a rabid dog and point to it saying "Look, beware, it's a rabid dog!" and another group of Catholics see the dog as well and say "Yes! Beware! It's a rabid dog!" that doesn't make the Amish Catholic or the Christians Amish. It just happens to be two groups of religiously differing people seeing the same rabid dog.

I see that as a lack of intestinal fortitude on Comey's part, perhaps a justified fear, considering those who cross the Clinton machine have had a bad habit of waking up dead in the morning if they can't make the jump from relative obscurity to the limelight with their information in very short order. Because it was an investigation, knowledge of wrongdoing on the Clinton's part could be buried right along with him. The departure form his job description would have been to go public with the info or to try to prosecute (not his job). Consider Obama has been front man for the Clintons, and was the 'warm up act' for Hillary's presumed tenure, and you get the  picture.

In an nutshell, Comey didn't want to do a Ron Brown/Vince Foster/Bill Colby/etc.

But he was between his job and a hard place, and the only way to get out of it was to either drag out the 'investigation' and run out the clock, or to conclude the investigation and pass off the results to a DOJ which would not have prosecuted Hillary for the vivisection of young children on the White House lawn in broad daylight at the height of tourist season. He did the latter (passed it on to the DOJ and Lynch) and lived. Bubba had a 'talk' with Lynch, and the matter went away.

Did Comey have partisan leanings? Possibly, but my bet is on just wanting to live through that and get to retirement is good enough shape to keep his job and enjoy his check.

Or a warning to get their stories straight and destroy any communications to the contrary. In other words, time to go into serious CYA mode. Or get treated like a 'Rich', man...DC is a dangerous town, after all.
