The charred remains of an early 3rd-century buildings, including a solarium, as well as the skeleton of a dog have been discovered by archaeologists whilst they were examining a 33 ft deep hole.

Construction work was being carried out for the Italian capital’s Metro C line near the Aurelian Walls when the remarkably preserved site was found.

The Ministry of Culture said the building had been destroyed by fire and because of that they still contained preserved parts of the wooden ceiling and furniture.
