Bizarre: FBI Calls Scalise Shooting 'Spontaneous,' Gunman 'Had No Target In Mind,' Motive Unclear

Guy Benson

Totally baffling. This Associated Press write-up of yesterday's FBI press conference makes clear that everyone involved agrees that deceased shooter James Hodgkinson detested Republicans with a fiery passion, yet investigators seem unwilling to call his attack premeditated or specifically targeted -- nor will they comment on his motive at this point.  Why?  Am I missing something here?  This is what they're telling us right now:..............................

What?
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

What?
@Chosen Daughter

I heard the Republican who spoke to this man tell what happened.  He and another Republican were in the car.  The man came over and asked who was playing.  There were two Republicans in that car and the other one was one whose name was on this man's list yet he did nothing to him.  I think when he saw a gaggle of Republicans on the field, he saw it was an opportunity to take them out, regardless of what their names were.

I am not clear on what you are saying.  He went there with a list and a gun.  Clearly he planned on shooting Republicans on his list.  If he did nothing to the Republican in the car it is probably because he wanted to get as many as he could at once.

It's NOT bizarre.

It's what complicit and compromised agencies and organizations do in order to obfuscate the obvious.

The FBI, like the Pentagon and probably every agency in the Federal Beast has been infiltrated by, manned and run by permanent agents loyal to the Democrat party and the Left.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

That is what I said.  The shooter spoke to the two Republicans in the car and one man in the car was on the shooter's list.  He asked who was playing and one said Republicans.  He left the two men in the car alone, even though they were Republicans with one of them on his list.  He took his advantage to have a field full of Republicans to kill, rather than try to hunt down those on his list.

A list of targets without pictures (readily available on the web)? No study time to know the faces of the people he was targeting? As an assassin, that says 'not even ready for amateur hour', much less prime time.

That makes the list a curious artifact. Was it typed, handwritten, in his hand?
What, besides being Republicans and members of the Freedom Caucus ties these guys together?

This just doesn't add up. If you are going to buy a gun, drive hundreds of miles to kill a half dozen people, you'd think you'd at least take the time to put a face on your 'enemy' so you'd have a better chance of success. Heck, you'd know their schedule to the hour as much as possible in order to increase the likelihood of success. You'd check out venues, hangouts, security, escape routes, schedules which would put two or more targets in the same area at the same time, all sorts of stuff this guy apparently had not.

Something just does not add up. Either the guy was a serious nutcase with delusions of grandeur and no clue how to get there, or he's a patsy that someone wants to be the end of the trail of breadcrumbs.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I suggest following the link back to AP > the video of the actual press conference. The FBI's statements were not as definitive as the AP made it appear then Town Hall made it appear even more so. They were more the generic vague answers you get early in an investigation. The editorializing from the AP > Town Hall aren't totally true in the way they describe it.

He was a serious nutcase; doesn't change the fact that he was out to get certain people.  These were politically-motivated attempts at murder.

I suppose we should be thankful that he was an incompetent nutcase, then, at best.

Otherwise this is a thicker broth.

I cannot understand the point of the FBI calling this spontaneous when every bit of evidence proves that, while the guy may have been a nut, he was a nut with a definite purpose and actually shot one of the people on that list.

Ridiculous.  I think we'll discover later that this was not what the FBI said at all.

Two reasons...the first is political...still a lot of Dem sympathies hi up in the Hoover Building.

The second reason is more practical...they don't want copy cats.  If they come out and officially confirm that yes this Dem supporter of Socialist Sanders was purposely targeting Republican Congress Critters then it's open season on all Dems by some nut job with a rifle who wants to get even.

And everything goes downhill quickly from there.

The only problem with that theory is that the law enforcement establishment & media does not hesitate to attribute to the political right crimes, future potential crimes and crimes the left wishes the right would commit.

I've seen the media try to do that and fail...Brian Ross and the Aurora Colorado shooter comes to mind.

Can't recall seeing the cops do it though.

What?

Fire their @sses.... immediately.   It's obvious that, aside from their inability to reason, think logically, observe rationally and form logical thoughts and conclusions, they've been 'compromised'.

Oh well... disregard my previous rant then...lol.   We all already know how the AP loves to ""editorialize"".  (yeah, that's what it's called = John Lovitz).

What evidence do you have to back up that theory?

On what grounds would you have them terminated?

And by that I mean a legitimate reason...not an emotional reactionary one.

What's the old saw? "Well, investigate them and convict them, and then fire them, then!"

Unfortunately, what we get as news trickles through too many filters before some reactionary headline goes up over an article that doesn't support it.  I'd rather the 'news' outlets report the primary sources and let us see what they have to say.

The political & media arms of law enforcement do it all the time - 'no evidence that guy who slashed his way through the mall hollering Allahu Ahkbar was a terrorist' and 'it is/it isn't being investigated as a hate crime'.

That's always the initial statement.  They do end up going back and updating the initial press brief once all the facts are known.

And many many there are clearly political overtones in those statements.
