I've said it before and I'll say it again (although it's off-topic):
In the war between islam and The West, the victory of the The West -is- justified by using whatever means become necessary to win. The alternative is unacceptable.
"Higher ground" means nothing (as in, "zero") if you're dead.
Quite beside the point, and without much effect, as in a battle with the Mohammedans, the high ground is easily taken. Rising to defend is high ground anyway, and against a people who skin humans alive, burn humans, heave them off of high places, and crucify them, leaves literal hectares of high ground.
But, whether one might win or not has everything to do with just cause, and just cause requires a moral people. When one is deliberately defying the laws of God, one cannot expect His favor.
