Live updates: Karen Handel clinches Georgia’s 6th District seat

It’s election day in the north Atlanta suburbs.

Welcome to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s live blog. We’ll be tracking all things 6th District special election tonight in this closely-watched nail-biter between Republican Karen Handel and Democrat Jon Ossoff. Most polls closed at 7 p.m.

The two candidates are duking it out for Tom Price’s former U.S. House district, which encompasses portions of DeKalb, Fulton and Cobb counties and has been vacant since the six-term lawmaker was sworn in as Health and Human Services secretary on Feb. 12. The race in this affluent and well-educated slice of the city has attracted a deluge of outside money and attention.

Republican wins South Carolina special election
Politico, Jun 20, 2017

Republican Ralph Norman has won South Carolina’s special House election to replace Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney in Congress.

Norman defeated Democrat Archie Parnell in a closer than expected race for South Carolina’s 5th Distrct on Tuesday night. Norman had 52 percent of the vote to Parnell’s 48 percent when the Associated Press called the race with 89 percent of precincts reporting.

Norman, a conservative hardliner in the state legislature who won a primary runoff against a more moderate opponent with the help of the Club for Growth, has said he would join the House Freedom Caucus if elected.

For a chuckle I swerved into Laurence O'Donnells loser extravaganza on PMSLSD. They had the balls to run a chyron saying this was "AN OMINOUS WIN FOR THE GOP" because she didn't win by 10 points. What a pack of GD mental patients.
