Franken: Impeaching Trump could lead to ‘zealot’ Pence

By Olivia Beavers - 06/20/17 09:36 AM EDT

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) is cautioning his Democratic colleagues that if President Trump is impeached, Vice President Pence would become president and he “would be worse” on domestic issues.

“He’s ideological, I consider him a zealot,” Franken told International Business Times in an interview published Monday. “And I think that in terms of a lot of domestic policy, [Pence] certainly would be worse than Trump.”

Franken said Pence, who ran Trump's transition team, was behind some of the “very worst” White House Cabinet nominees, including Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price and Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney.
Franken did say he'd feel better about having Pence as commander-in-chief than Trump.

Sounds like the talking points have been passed down to change directional strategy.

Same thing occurred in the late 90s when Democrats realized that impeaching Clinton could lead to 'idiot' Gore.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Democrats have never held the key to impeachment.  Republicans do.  Republicans who become sufficiently dissatisfied with Trump know that his successor will be as solid a conservative as Reagan was.

The establishment and the DEMS want Ryan or Hatch.
I Believe in the United States of America as a Government of the people, by the people, for the people; whose just powers are derived from the consent of the governed; a democracy in a republic; a sovereign nation of many sovereign states; a perfect union one and inseparable; established upon those principles of freedom, equality, justice and humanity for which American patriots sacrificed their lives and fortunes.  I therefore believe it is my duty to my country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws to respect its flag; and to defend it against all enemies.

Who needs a more civil tone, right Al? It's not enough to say you disagree with him.

Maybe someone'll take a shot at Pence, can't run the risk of a zealot being in charge.

One miserable individual, Franken.

Does anyone but me have a difficult time  taking the utterings  of Franken seriously? (that's rhetorical)

Only the Dems would elect this clown.
