Mattis: ‘Shocked’ by Poor State of Military Readiness

Secretary of Defense James Mattis told the House Armed Services Committee on Monday that he was "shocked" at the poor state of the military's readiness.
Mattis was appearing before the committee to answer questions regarding the proposed budget for the military. He said that one of the top problems being faced was the military readiness has worsened in the time between his leaving the Marine Corps to becoming secretary.
