A section of east London has been put on lockdown following a major incident which has left a number of people injured, including two police officers.

A total of four people, including two who were injured in the incident, were arrested this afternoon following the ‘disturbance’ on Barking Road.

Police were called to the scene at around 5.20pm – where they found a number of injured people.

Paramedics were called to the scene and several were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Two police officers were also taken to hospital with minor injuries and have since been discharged.

Cordons remain around the scene and surrounding streets, including Barking Close, Cumberland Road, New Barn Street and Balaam Street.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called shortly before 5.20pm to reports of a disturbance in Barking Road, E13.
