People always fear change. When TV became prevalent, people worried that children wouldn't play outside. There were six children playing outside in my street last night and I wanted to tell them to go in and watch TV.
That is not the primary reason why people should fear Television.
I choose to trust in society.
That sounds like crazy talk to me. Have you seen how society has devolved lately? Did you see what happened to German Society in the 1930s?
However, what I'm really afraid of is Robots. You know we're getting close to humanized robots and it's scary.
You should be afraid of robots. Anyone that has a grasp of their potential as a tool of oppression should be very very afraid of robots. You should be even more afraid of their masters.
They're going to resent us and they never heard of Isaac Asimov and his Three Laws. They're smarter, they're stronger.... why should they take orders from us.
It won't be pretty.
Back to crazy talk again. The Robots have no urges to do anything. They can be programed to behave as if they have urges, but they have no inherent urges as do living creatures. They also have no mercy, and will simply do whatever their master instructs them to do.
We are going to face a "Terminator" situation in the future, but these machines will do the will of the Oligarchy that owns them. They might be killing people, but not because some self aware computer brain is telling them to do so, they will be doing it because humans who have control of them decided certain people need to stop breathing.
